FLINT, Mich. -- As the ranking Democrat in the Michigan legislature, state Sen. John Cherry is as neutral as a beige sofa in an off-white room when it comes to the highly competitive race to be the party's nominee for governor.

But his wife isn't.

"Yes, I'm married to one, but I am really tired of white male leaders," Pam Cherry explained over chilled shrimp at a fundraiser for state Attorney General Jennifer Granholm. "We need something new, something fresh."

What losers! Even now, positions and temperament win elections. Personally, I would vote for Jeane Kirkpatrick over most males any time. The whining gets old fast.
