Ads fail to slice into lead by Mica [FL-07]

Republican Congressman John Mica holds a strong lead over Democrat Wayne Hogan in Florida's District 7, despite an aggressive TV campaign by the challenger, a new Orlando Sentinel/WESH NewsChannel 2 survey shows.

With roughly three weeks until the Nov. 5 election, the 10-year representative from Winter Park leads Hogan, a North Florida attorney, 52 percent to 35 percent, the survey found. Thirteen percent of those contacted were undecided.

The 17-point lead is "a pretty good sign" that Mica is safe, said Brad Coker, managing director of Mason-Dixon Polling & Research of Washington. "He's still the favorite."

Poll Ping!

Some democrats had been talking this up as a late upset possibility. Doesn't look like it from these poll results.

If you want on or off my poll ping list, let me know!

This seat became somewhat more Republican after redistricting in an area already trending Republican the past several cycles. While the elements of a potential upset exist only since the Dem is willing to self-fund, this seems like an exceedingly low possibility even if the numbers were closer.

Hogan's TV ads are interesting.

They are very well done from a technical standpopint. He's just a very down-home friendly man of the people,y'know, the rolled up sleeves and all.

What he never mentions or even gives a hint of is that he's the Democrat in the race! The only place you'll find it is down in the fine print where there's a letter"D" after the name of his election committee.

He also doesn't mention that he's self-funded because he made tens of millions in "big tobacco" lawsuits.

Just a proto-typical Democrap.
