TOPICS: California; Campaign News; State and Local; U.S. Congress
KEYWORDS: cardoza; cripe; degroat; montieth; nota; uscongress
Postscript 1: Dick Montieth may have convinced some people that he is a conservative because he invokes "God, Country and Family" every three minutes, truth be told: I've known some openly gay, registered Green, practicing Wiccans who are probably more "conservative" than he is. Real conservatives do not serve beans at Gary Condit fundraisers nor do they vote for tax hikes and applaud next to Gray Davis while they are signed into law. I have e-mailed inquiries as to where Dick Montieth stands on trade with Cuba and Red China, I have yet to recieve a straight answer. His silence tells me he will put the interests of corrupt, disloyal fat cat growers before national security and human rights. He also hasn't filled out his NPAT questionaire and he avoided at least two debates. Why? Because he doesn't want to much of the party base to see him jumpo up and say "me too, me too!!!" to everything Dennis Cardoza says. Postscript 2: Like most Libertarians, Linda Degroat cannot mentally grasp that open borders and trade with enemies like North Korea, Red China, Cuba and Iraq amount to national suicide. Also, like most Libertarians, she is obsessed with legalizing dope and she tends to confuse freedom and liberty with Anarchy and license. Kevin Cripe is so far to the Left, he should be running for Swedish Parliament instead of US Congress. He basically thinks this country is too rich and it's wealth should be redistributed to the poorer countries. He is also devoting energy to getting the Pepsi Blue beverage banned from schools because he thinks the lettering on the label is gang related. I do get some consolation from the fact that neither the AIP, Constitution Party nor Howard Phillips is happy with Mr. Cripe and they will NOT be supporting him. Postsript 3. DeGroat, Cripe and Cardoza are all pro-abortion and I refuse to vote for pro-abortion candidates. Postscript 4. I'm not voting for Dennis Cardoza but I won't vote for Dick Montieth either. Both men built their careers on licking Gary Condit's boots. Dennis Cardoza and Gary Condit are hardly on speaking terms anymore, but Dennis Cardoza will be employing the same "oppose me and I shall crush you" tactics that Condit has employed for years. Dick Montieth as I have stated before has served beans at Condit fundraisers, discouraged potential Republican candidates from running against Condit in '98 and in 2000 he endorsed Gary Condit over Steve Wilson and with the help of the Stanislaus Republican Central Committee, finacially hamstrung Wilson so that he couldn't possibly wage an effective campaign. Dick Montieth won the 2002 Primary when Condit's people mobilized his RINO supporters behind him. The original plan was for Dick Montieth to throw the game to Gary Condit but it didn't work out that way. If Dick Montieth wins, he will not represent the people of this valley, he will be doing the Will of Condit. Nothing will change, it will be like the Mafia boss running the outfit from prison.

How did a leftist win the nomination of the Constitution Party? Did everyone know when he filed that he was a leftist? If so, why didn't someone run against him. For that matter, who ran against the RINO for the GOP nomination? If both of these guys were nominated unopposed, you should have at least filed to run against them just to be a thorn in their sides.

I somehow doubt that this RINO will ever be a leader in the Republican Party or be in a position to influence the party's direction. I'd probably vote for him just to deny the seat to the Democrats, but obviously I don't know the situation as well as you do. Is it too late to file as a write-in candidate?

Actually Kevin Cripe ran unopposed. As for Dick Montieth, he was opposed by Bill Conrad, a true blue conservative, a family man, small businessman, Air National Guard officer and Modesto City Councilman with a reputation for common sense. Bill Conrad also was a thorn in the side of Gary Condit for years.
They only way to run as a write-in would be to get 1,000 signatures on a petition in your county. I'm old enough to run, but frankly, I wouldn't know where to find 5 signatures let alone a thousand.

I've only been in that situation once, and it was a state senate race. What's even more frustrating is that I was offered the chance to run. I really didn't want the position, but in hindsight things would have been better if I had tried to get the nomination. I wouldn't have won, and the guy who did run really hurt the party. I wrote-in a candidate because Tennessee allowed open write-ins, but I didn't feel good about it.

Anyone wonder why we're in this situtution? Let's look back to the primary...

---------------------------------------------------------

ME: Everyone vote for BILL CONRAD in the GOP primary!

OTHER FREEPERS: Screw the GOP primary! We have to get rid of Gary Condit!! Stop Gary! Stop Gary! Stop Gary!

ME: Why would you want to stop Gary when he'd get his @$$ KICKED in the general election?

OTHER FREEPERS: 'Cause he's a criminal lying scumbag.

ME: The Dem running "against" him had Gary as a longtime mentor and is just like him IN EVERY WAY minus Chandra.

OTHER FREEPERS: So what? He's not Gary!

ME: Yes, he's a clone of Gary except he's a lot more electable by the sheeple.

OTHER FREEPERS: Go Dick! Go Dick! Go Dick!

ME: Huh?

OTHER FREEPERS: We'll all voting in the Dem primary to replace Gary Condit with Dick!

ME: What about Conrad?

OTHER FREEPERS: Who's Conrad?

Two monthes later...

JIMROB: Gary lost the 'RAT primary.

OTHER FREEPRES: Go Dick! Go Dick! Go Dick!

JIMROB: Dick is leading in the polls...

OTHER FREEPERS: Go Dick! Go Dick! Go Dick!

JIMROB: ...in the GENERAL election.

OTHER FREEPERS. Uh-oh.

ME: Of course, Gary HAD been way behind in the general election even though the district had been redrawn to elect a Democrat. It WOULD have been a pickup for us.

OTHER FREEPERS: Not to worry, the Republican will have the saavy and conservative base to gain back in the polls!

ME: A useless RINO just won the GOP primary because none of you people bothered to vote in it.

OTHER FREEPERS: You mean a conservative REPUBLICAN was running against Gary? Why didn't you tell us?

ME: ::sigh::

---------------------------------------------------------- Expect this scenario to repeat itself in Georgia, as Denise Majette crushes a REAL conservative to keep Cynthia's seat in 'RAT hands, then votes the party line while saving the Georgia 'RATs from the fallout they WOULD have had if McKinney were still around.

The republicrats are on a self-destructive path. Just look at some of the people "representing" them. They don't know anything about leadership. Like all pols, they immediately look to the next election after being voted in. In the final analysis, politicians will betray us because it's really all about them and power over people lives with very few exceptions.

Bill Conrad was actually one of two candidates for that seat who actually came to downtown Modesto and visited with us Freepers who stood in front of Condit's office(the other was Elvis Pringle, who challenged Gary Condit, Dennis Cardoza and Ralph White for the Democrat nomination.) while Dick Montieth avoided us like the plague and treated the Levy case like a non-issue.

Too bad most California freepers didn't have to brains to figure out they should be voting for Bill in the GOP primary and save their anti-Condit energy for the GENERAL election. Why freepers were so obsessed with HELPING the Dems field a more electable scumbag is beyond me. A bunch of freepers cheered right along with Dick Gephardt when Cardoza got the nomination.

Bill Conrad could have beaten Dennis Cardoza, unlike Dick Montieth, at least Bill Conrad would have had the moral courage and the moral currency to bring up Cardoza's character problems(i.e. the strip club.) Dick Montieth couldn't tell the truth about Dennis Cardoza because of the fact that the grounds for his first divorce included physical cruelty, he is a deadbeat dad and he has a DUI record.
