It seems that the Asner quote about Stalin that is the basis for the article of this thread was substantially misquoted by WorldNetDaily. The actual quote does not say anything near what was reported by that source. As such, most of the comments here should be replaced by "nevermind".

Mr. Asner's remarks are utterly disgraceful. Let us not forget that both Joseph Stalin and Mao Tse Tung were responsible for the deaths of millions and more so than Adolf Hitler, who is villified by the left for ideological reasons. It is disturbing that some still see Stalinist Russia as a "Noble Experiment" and the not terrible and bloody period it really was in Russian history.
