[history]
Ben Swinburn, a resident of San Francisco, answered his phone 18 months ago to hear a recorded ad for a casino outfit that operates in Las Vegas and elsewhere. He hung up, but the casino hasn't taken the hint: It has been leaving messages for Swinburn at least once a month ever since.

Didn't find this on a search. Apologies if I missed it. I was under the impression that telemarketers could not legally call cell phones. Not sure what to make of this article.

I got them already. I got one from Georgia yesterday. They`re almost as annoying as liberals, although they would have to call me several billion times a day and curse out my mother for them to reach that level.

This won't last long. Remember most plans pay by the minute. Lawyers will have a field day with these class action suits against particular telemarketers.
This is one thing the public will not put up with. You are in a meeting you get a call and it is a telemarketer. No way.

I was under the impression that telemarketers could not legally call cell phones. And your impression is right. The original cellular protocol adopted by the FCC in 1984 specifically prohibits telemarketing to cellular telephones. It doesn't stop them, though. I get telemarketers about 3-4 times a week on my cell phone. If their caller ID comes through, I write it down and report it. If the caller ID does not come through the telemarketer gets read the riot act.

And if a telemarketer calls a cell phone and the owner answers and has a car accident at the same time I think the lawsuit could run pretty high against the marketer. Something they better think about.

Lawsuits, hell. If it gets to that point, hoist the black flag, storm the boilerrooms, and drag them into the streets by their hair.
Good grief, they've been warned about the public attitude enough. Anything that goes beyond this point needs to be the equivalent of a statue of Darwin toppling over on them.
