Temper Tantrums and ABC News

10/13/2003
Refuse to vote the way ABC News instructed you to vote and you must be having a temper tantrum! The obnoxious elitists at ABC are very sure they know what's best for all of us.

Here is how Linda Douglass, apparently piqued by the outcome of the California recall, began the first news update of Good Morning America, 10/08/2003:

"Schwarzenegger acknowledged that the recall campaign was the result of a statewide temper tantrum, that Democrats who run the legislature must be in shock and itching for revenge."

Interestingly, Douglass offered no actual quote and none can be found by a Google search. He did say, during his victory speech Tuesday night, "Shall we rebuild our state together, or shall we fight amongst ourselves? For the people to win, politics as usual must lose."

So how did Douglass get from those comments to a "statewide temper tantrum"? It is interesting to note that she is not the first ABC newsperson to accuse the voters of having a temper tantrum. Peter Jennings used that term to dismiss the will of the people when they gave the Republicans control of the House and Senate in 1994.

"Some thoughts on those angry voters. Ask parents of any two-year-old and they can tell you about those temper tantrums: the stomping feet, the rolling eyes, the screaming. It's clear that the anger controls the child and not the other way around. It's the job of the parent to teach the child to control the anger and channel it in a positive way. Imagine a nation full of uncontrolled two-year-old rage. The voters had a temper tantrum last week….Parenting and governing don't have to be dirty words: the nation can't be run by an angry two-year-old." - Peter Jennings, 11/14/1994, ABC Radio

Linda Douglass' oddball paraphrasing of Governor-elect Schwarzenegger's actual words indicates that the paternalistic elitism at ABC News does not reside entirely with Peter Jennings, but is instead a part of the company culture. How dare the voters think for themselves! How dare they vote their conscience! How dare their conscience differ from the will of ABC News!

No wonder viewers are voting with their remote and clicking in droves over to Fox News Channel.

ABC News Arnold Schwarznegger Assassin

Byron York of National Review can tell you about ABC News reporter Linda Douglass the slime merchant behind the 'Arnold Loves Hitler' scoop.

He reported in 1998 that Douglass and her husband were long time friends of Clinton campaign manager Mickey Kantor and once made tender attempts to reform Webster Hubbell in prision.

So it should not be surprising that Douglas is the Democrats majorette for the Nazi smear.

Outrage is the work of the FReeper Peacerose.

She has taken as her the task to sort through the mass of outrageous media presentations and bring to us one deserving focused complaints.

Accurate Portrait?

Do you think the mainstream media are objectively representing the situation in Iraq?

a. Yes, I think they are. (5%)

b. No, I think they are focusing too much on the negative. (91%)

c. No, I think they are focusing too much on the positive. (3%)

d. I'm not sure. (1%)

Here are the current poll percentages that Fox News has on their homepage today. Looks like the Fox viewers and freepers have hit it hard.

It is really kinda scary. These creeps believe in the supremacy of government over the voters.

For them voting is evidently a limited proposition: you can't vote for or against being in the zoo, you can only vote for who the zookeeper will be.

Maybe the author was refering to the countless times Schwarzenegger said that the California voters were "mad as hell."

Even if that's the case, there's no reason to use the word "tantrum."

Paul Craig Roberts noted that eventually the permanent government will try and ignore losing a national election and govern over the people. Watching the Gore people in Florida in 2000 gave a foretaste of what is to come. Those who control the media and the cultural establishment will support stridently the permanent government in this effort.

PBS Lehrer News Hour did a skunk piece on conservative radio
last night. It's up on audio only..and they used some bizarre visuals if you were unfortunate enough to see it.

Just like the Democratic Party, the liberal media is in severe denial. No matter how many people leave their networks, they just can't admit that it is them and their biased messages that's turning people off.

It is really kinda scary. These creeps believe in the supremacy of government over the voters.

The "warm fuzzy" each leftist gets from membership comes with the drop-dead certainty that they are smarter than us, and if we only had the mental capacity to recognize this, we would beg them to lead.

They are not so much hurt, as mystified at our behavior.

"It's clear that anger controls the child and not the other way around," -Jennings on the 1994 Republican congressional elections victory.

"The voters had a temper-tantrum...The nation can't be run by an angry 2-year-old." - Jennings

Of course, this only applies to Republicans.

Good post!

Douglass is, apparently, a Jennings wannabe. ABC, with its Canadian (US citizenship ignored) socialist anchorman, is locked out of my satellite TV.

Liberal socialist pondscum (LSP) have no redeeming social value and are, simply, not welcome in my house.

I watched ABC news the other night (I didnt have a choice!) I was taken aback by Petah's smarminess when discussing anything Republican, but what really bothered me was that whenever any of them, Petah or any of the reporters, were talking about the President, they all called him Mr. Bush. Every time! Show a little respect.

Men and women like you two are providing your country a great service by posting articles like this and digging the "truth" out from the bullshit.

bert, by starting the "Fairness" organization you did you've provided just one more avenue for us silent majority-types to see reality versus the fiction the Dan Rather-clones would have us believe. You're the front-line troops. Keep fighting. Your efforts are not in vain.

Patriots are who made us the greatest country the world has ever known, and you've shown we won't give up the mantle without a fight.

I'm old, fat, and disabled and most of my years are spent . . . but my chest swells with pride knowing there's folks like you two who'll continue to carry the torch.

I salute you both.
