Only one recently-wronged political wife—Elizabeth Edwards—has written a book discussing her ordeal. But in its segment today on "forgiveness," Good Morning America ignored John Edwards and his wandering ways. When it came to polyamorous politicans, ABC focused exclusively—surprise!—on two Republicans: Mark Sanford and David Vitter. The release of the Libyan Lockerbie murderer, the Manson murders anniversary and the re-entry into the NFL of Michael Vick were the jumping-off points for the segment. But when politics popped up, the only examples bore the GOP label . . . View video here.

“How do you tell your kids that mommy is now a daddy? Or that a daddy is now a mommy?” Leave it to ABC to raise these questions on “Good Morning America.” A July 21 segment previewed “Primetime Family Secrets” airing later that night about a transgender woman and the effects of the decision on his family. Correspondent Juju Chang documented the Prince family for one year. In 2008 Ted Prince became “Chloe” through a sex change and his wife, Rene, stayed with him. The couple has two sons: Logan is 7 1/2 and Barry is 6. Since the...

If a Category 5 hurricane were approaching our shores, ABC would presumably not knock the weatherman who warned us of it. But let Sarah Palin warn us of what is transparently true: that Barack Obama has strayed far from the Founding Father’s vision for America, and Good Morning America will paint her as “polarizing.” It happened today in a report by ABC’s Dan Harris. In fairness, Harris was seeking something of an “on the one hand, on the other” moment, and did play a clip from Bay Buchanan praising Palin. But then came this: View video here.

The Monday after the Kentucky Derby, you’d think ABC would know which way horses run around an American racetrack—counter-clockwise—as you’ll see in the photo of Mine That Bird’s stunning triumph the Run for the Roses. But have a look at the Dem and Republican horses in the animation that Good Morning America used today to illustrate James Carville’s theory of why Democrats, according to his new book, are positioned to rule for 40 years. Yup, they’re running clockwise. View video here.

Although I do not watch it, my wife had GMA on this morning and they had a piece, something like "surviving the recession". To make a long story short, the three cars they recomended included two Toyotas and a Honda.

As soon as I heard the report on Good Morning America today describing a possible suspect in the murder of Chandra Levy as an “immigrant,” my antenna went up. So, was he a high-tech worker, here on a H-1B visa? Or perhaps a permanent resident, proud holder of a green card? Somehow I didn’t think so. It took all of 15 seconds to Google out this Washington Post article stating that the possible suspect, Ingmar A. Guandique, is an illegal immigrant. But GMA didn’t bother to mention that inconvenient fact. ABC’s Pierre Thomas narrated the segment, which began with Chandra’s...

Bill Clinton is interviewing with Cuomo saying would have asked for MORE in the stimulus bill. He blames Bush for not starting direct aid to homeowners, dodging questions about Obama's just now getting to it. Clinton danced on the issue he set this whole thing in motion and Cuomo danced with him.

Looks like George Stephanopolous is single-handedly trying to balance out the criticism of the Obama stimulus plan, noted here and here, that the weekend edition of Good Morning America has recently aired. Appearing this morning, Stephanopoulos proclaimed that Pres. Obama has achieved a “great success” with the plan. His only error? Being too bi-partisan. Co-anchor Bill Weir seconded Steph’s emotion, lamenting that the president’s achievement has been lost in all the rancor. BILL WEIR: What could President Obama have done differently in these first 20 days to fulfill those promises on non-partisan nirvana in Washington? GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: I think part...

I suppose it could have been a coincidence. But the MSM normally displays such an exquisite sense of political correctness in choosing which people to feature in its segments. So when a Good Morning America segment on people who have recently lost their jobs focused exclusively on melanin-deprived folks, it made me wonder. Did ABC have some kind of motive at work here? ABC correspondent John Berman narrated the segment. It told the tale of seven people. Roger Olsen, Lee Sakellarides, Doreen Baird, Karen Albert, Dori Martin and two unidentified folks all had something in common beyond being members of...

For someone looking to expose MSM bias, the weekend episodes of Good Morning America are a godsend, a veritable corncucopia of liberal media advocacy on display. I really should send co-anchors Kate Snow and Bill Weir gifts next Christmas in thanks for all the material they’ve supplied over the months. But, true to FinkelBlog’s pledge to dole out the kudos when the MSM has done something to deserve them, let’s acknowledge that GMA gave a fair shake today to a group of free-market economists who have come together to oppose the president’s stimulus plan, arguing instead that the government should...

(video included in article) Question One: How many segments did ABC’s “Good Morning, America” devote to scandal-plagued Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich? Answer One: Not one, not two, not three, but four segments. Question Two: How many times did they mention his party affiliation? Answer Two: Not four, not three, not two, not one, but zero times. “Good Morning, America” spent nearly 20 minutes on this piece of human detritus. Yet no one ever saw fit to mention his party affiliation. But Diane Sawyer did come very close to asking for the name and number of his hair stylist.

When it comes to selling his policies, foreign or domestic, it looks like Pres. Obama will be able to count on a helping hand from ABC. Yesterday we noted how, now that the problem has landed in Pres. Obama’s lap, ABC suddenly discovered that closing Gitmo isn’t as easy as it had been cracked up to be. Today, the economy was the focus. Pres. Obama is proposing a massive government program. And . . . what a coincidence! The network whose Sunday talk show host shed tears of joy during the inauguration just happens to declare that the only way...

“And when a member of the MSM pleasantly surprises us, we’ll make a point of handing out the kudos.”– FinkelBlog launch announcement, 1-19-09 Sooner than we expected, we’re going to begin delivering on our promise to note those too-rare occasions when the MSM does some surprisingly solid reporting. On a day when most of the MSM is in paroxysms of sycophantic joy, ABC’s Ross was willing to play something of the skunk at the inaugural party. At the end of Good Morning America’s first half-hour, ABC’s chief investigative correspondent Brian Ross presented his report on the 216 high-rolling donors who...

On Monday's "Good Morning America," co-host Robin Roberts chose to tout only Democratic politicians in a piece honoring the civil rights movement and those "warriors" who made Barack Obama's election as president possible. Not a single Republican was mentioned or featured in the segment. Roberts began by announcing, "And on this Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we thought it would be appropriate to look back at all the warriors, black and white, who made this moment where we are today possible."

On a day when GMA ran two warm-'n-fuzzy items about Barack Obama, the ABC show found yet another way to hit President Bush—literally and figuratively stooping to bash Barney, the presidential pooch. Weekend co-anchor Bill Weir teased the segment in the show's opening roll, then couldn't contain himself in his initial chit-chat with Kate Snow: KATE SNOW: It's been one of the best-kept secrets of the Bush White House. But we have the scoop this morning on Barney. BILL WEIR: Turns out everyone hates him. SNOW: Hey-y-y-y! Giving it right away there; right off the top! View video here.

In its opening half-hour, Good Morning America told us--twice--that Pres.-elect Obama choked up with emotion as he was packing up his old house. But somehow ABC couldn't find time to mention that a possible pay-to-play scheme was behind Bill Richardson's bye-bye as Commerce Secretary nominee. After the show-opening roll in which the president elect was shown heading to DC, Robin Roberts literally bounced in her co-anchor's chair: "so excited, so excited, so excited . . . It's a new day, new year, new everything going on." Added Diane Sawyer helpfully: "And a president-elect." "Yes," concurred Robin, as if it wasn't...

At the top of Monday’s ABC Good Morning America, co-host Chris Cuomo teased a story on Barack Obama’s Christmas vacation plans: "And Aloha, President-elect Barack Obama says Mele Kalikimaka on a bright Hawaiian holiday. We'll take to you to the $30 million retreat where the future first family is spending Christmas." Later, fill-in co-host Elizabeth Vargas introduced the segment: "Barack Obama and his family arrived in Hawaii over the weekend to a multi-million dollar ocean-front home, where they will spend Christmas." At no point in the story did anyone contrast Obama’s lavish getaway with the tough economic times. In fact,...

Short of having gone full Ninja hero and catching the shoes in mid-air, it's hard to see how Pres. Bush could have been any cooler in his handling of the Hush Puppy Hurler. I have to figure the president's feeling pretty good about things this morning. But that didn't stop ABC and NBC from declaring the incident "embarrassing" for President Bush. For good measure, on Today, Doris Kearns Goodwin discounted Bush's blithe reaction, saying he wouldn't have been that cool a couple years ago, strangely intepreting his nonchalance as evidence of how anxious he is to leave office. And not...

Was it a simple typo, or has all the bleeping news out of Chicago liberated ABC to start using some salty language its own? Check out the screengrab from this morning's Good Morning America. As correspondent Jim Avila came on to narrate a segment about Blago's wife Patty and the conflicts among her, her powerful Chicago pol father, and her husband, the screen graphic read, as you see, "GOVERNOR'S FAMILY FUED." Reading the transcripts of Blago and Patty's colorful conversations, I'll say they did! But surely GMA could have found a more G-rated way of reporting that ;-)

In an MSM eager for the dawn of the Age of Obama, Kate Snow may have taken the cake. The weekend GMA co-host almost sounded as if she were calling for some kind of coup d'etat, musing whether Obama should do something to "force" change before he officially takes office. How over the top was Snow? She had to be talked down from her fin de regime fantasy but none other than . . . Paul Krugman. ABC reporter John Hendren set the tone for the notion that time is dangerously a-wasting. JOHN HENDREN: As with Hoover and FDR, the...

In a television interview on ABC's Good Morning America, the college professor disputed the contention that in the new afterword of a paperback edition of his 2001 memoir Fugitive Days, he described himself and Mr Obama as "family friends". "I'm describing there how the blogosphere characterised the relationship," Mr Ayers said. "I would really say that we knew each other in a professional way, again on the same level as say thousands of other people." Mr Ayers, an education professor at the University of Illinois-Chicago, helped found the radical group the Weathermen that carried out bombings at the Pentagon and...

William Ayres emerged from his pre-election seclusion to appear on Good Morning in America today. Strangely enough the producers of the show felt that all of the controversy surrounding the relationship between Obama and Ayres didn’t warrant any investigation or interview, but the release of a new collection of lies and anti-American propaganda penned by Ayres did. Is there any thinking American left who cannot see the insidious nature of the press and their sycophantic coverage of their chosen candidate? Make no mistake; the media hoisted this character on the nation through their lies, omissions, and distortions and they should...

Someone should explain to ABC: it ain't "dirty" if it's true. GMA got the collective vapors this morning over the robo-calls the RNC and McCain campaign are making, informing voters of Barack Obama's close association with unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers. In GMA's book, there's no real difference between these calls—which Cokie Roberts alluded to as "dirtier" tactics—and the calls made against McCain during the 2000 South Carolina Republican primary. Except there is a difference. A big, fundamental one: what's said in the current calls is true. Obama did work closely with Ayers. What was said in the 2000 calls against...

ABC's "Good Morning America" isn't afraid to call 'em like they see 'em. On health care, Chris Cuomo set up his resident health expert to deliver an outright insult to the American people. Republican Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) advocates more patient choice and flexibility in buying health insurance, but ABC’s medical editor, Dr. Tim Johnson, scoffed at that notion in a September 5 story. “The idea that individuals are going to have enough knowledge and enough savvy and enough insight and, frankly, enough guts to make choices all by themselves is pretty much a pipe dream,” Johnson said.

Another Ugly Michelle Obama moment... Another Ugly Michelle Obama moment... lies through her teeth that she "didn't" see the 'Paris Hilton ad' but then again she commented on it nevertheless. August 7, 2008 On ABC's GMA (GoodMorningAmerica) Robin Roberts, who's another propagandist for Obama, interviews Michelle Obama. Robin just "had" to throw that pitch in "Michelle is advocating for women that have relatives serving in Iraq", which is of course nothing but a political stunt, she only met with a few women so she can have a photo-up as a propaganda cheap "answer" to Barack's lowness of avoiding the wounded...

ABC = A BANGING CHEAP PROPAGANDA MACHINE Another daily example of open and shameless media bias pro-Obama anti-Mccain. Aug. 5, 2008 [7:AM] , Jake Tapper of ABC's GMA (GoodMorningAmerica) presents what ABC (supposedly) "knows" to be true or false, analyzing Mccain vs Obama on the energy & gas crisis, first he presents McCain with a rage overtone and is very quick to throw the sticker "flipflop" followed by the "false" sticker twice with the loud sound effect of a 'BANG' in a wild speed. Then as soon as he starts with Obama, all of a sudden the SPEED stops... all...

H/t texascajun We can debate the propriety of mentioning the name of banks that might be in financial trouble. But one thing appears clear to Chris Cuomo [file photo]: it would be wrong to mention the name of a Democrat who could be in hot water. Wouldn't want to cause a run on the Dem's political capital, after all. Cuomo's discretion was on display during today's Good Morning America. Anchoring in the absence of Diane Sawyer and Robin Roberts, Cuomo was discussing the run on Indymac and the advisability of publicizing the names of other banks that might be in...

-- Woman says SATC inspired her to have sex at 14 -- ABC News.com is currently highlighting a Sex and the City- inspired story about a woman who says the HBO series inspired her to start having sex when she was 14. Will the networks news shows pick up the story or will it remain an "internet only" feature, not likely to be seen by a broad audience? The question is worth asking because ABC's Good Morning America was one of the first network morning news shows to salivate over last week's London opening of Sex and the City: The...

"Good Morning America" co-host Chris Cuomo joked on Monday's show that Britain's Prince Harry "has been over in Afghanistan fighting because he's expendable." Fellow host Robin Roberts appeared somewhat shocked by the comment and sputtered, "What did you say?" Cuomo, who was previewing an ABC special on the royals, didn't back off his assertion and reiterated, "It's true. The reason that Harry is allowed to be in Afghanistan is because he's not the heir to the throne. William's not allowed to be there." -snip-

The media loves campaign metaphors. Yesterday, some MSM wag delighted in pointing out that Mike Huckabee's campaign van had twice run out of gas. Today, it was Hillary Clinton's turn. In the wake of her devastating defeats in the Potomac primaries, Good Morning America rolled an extended clip of her struggling up an airplane stairway. Speaking with Diane Sawyer, George Stephanopoulos had just finished opining that if in Texas Obama cuts into Hillary's coalition of women and Hispanics the way he did last night, he will be the nominee. Hillary Clinton might have a new source for endorsements and contributions: gangsta rappers. After all, Barack Obama apparently sees her as a "thug." At least that's what ABC's Dan Harris said on today's Good Morning America. ROBIN ROBERTS: And that brings us now to the Democrats. It's their turn tonight. Whatever your political feelings, it's an historic moment in American history. A woman, an African-American man, one will shatter 200 years of history and win the nomination. The stakes could not be any higher. Dan Harris is here with the story. DAN HARRIS: High stakes, high tension, high drama. The...

Mitt Romney On Good Morning America Today: ~~"I think what will happen across the country is that conservatives will give a good thought to whether or not they want to hand the party's nomination over to Senator McCain. EXCLUSIVE: OBAMA RIPS INTO BILL CLINTON MONDAY DURING ABC INTERVIEW WITH 'GOOD MORNING AMERICA' HOST ROBIN ROBERTS... SAYS HE FEELS LIKE HE RUNNING AGAINST BOTH CLINTONS... Bill 'has taken his advocacy on behalf of his wife to a level that I think is pretty troubling. He continues to make statements that are not supported by the facts. ABC's Race Expert: Woman Who Hoped for Death of Clarence Thomas By Scott Whitlock | January 15, 2008 - 10:37 ET On Saturday's "Good Morning America," Kate Snow chatted with a woman who once wished death on Clarence Thomas and highlighted her as an expert on racial politics in America. The weekend GMA co-host interviewed Julianne Malveaux on the subject of racial overtones in the conflict between Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. On November 4, 1994, Malveaux famously stated of Supreme Court Justice Thomas: "I hope his wife feeds him lots of eggs and butter and he dies early...

Chalk one up for the PC guy. No, we're not cheering for political correctness here. I'm talking about those ads for Macintosh computers where the cool Mac guy always gets the better of the frumpy PC fellow. When two college political leaders out in Iowa appeared on the Good Morning America screen today, I immediately suspected a set-up. I couldn't help but think that ABC had intentionally staged the political equivalent of the Mac ads, with the Dem as the Apple dude and the Republican cast as PC guy. In the screencap, that's Atul Nakhasi, head of the U. of...

Does "Good Morning America" mean "good morning all you racists"? Co-host Chris Cuomo seemed to suggest that on December 20. (Hat tip: Howard Mortman) Upon interviewing presidential candidate Barack Obama Cuomo inquired about Obama’s biggest obstacles. "What do you think the bigger obstacle is for you in becoming president, the Clinton campaign machine or America's inherent racists, racism?" Obama, though conceding he does not think "race has played a significant role in this campaign," went on to add that many people may vote for or against him because of his race.Video (:56): Windows Media (1.76 MB) and MP3 audio (.4...

Stop the presses -- ABC's got a scoop! The situation in Iraq isn't ideal. Trying to pave the way for the rejection of the Petraeus report, today's "Good Morning America" took the tack that the lack of complete calm is proof of the surge's failure. Co-anchor Kate Snow set the negative tone by displaying a poll finding to the effect a majority of Americans believe the Petraeus report "will try to make things look better" in Iraq rather than portraying the situation "honestly." Then it was on to a report from Iraq by ABC's Terry McCarthy. Don't miss the video...

No guns please, we're liberals . . . As soon as today's "Good Morning America" began to tease an upcoming how-to segment on protecting against home invasion, I immediately suspected the show wouldn't discuss one obvious measure: obtaining fireams and learning how to use them. And sure enough . . . GMA ran the segment in the wake of the horrific home-invasion in Connecticut in which the the wife and two daughters of a prominent doctor were killed and the man badly beaten. An expert was brought in to discuss various measures, and Chris Cuomo added some suggestions of his...

Can you remember the last time you heard "Today" or other MSM outlets describe in terms such as "over the top" rabid anti-Bush protests by the likes of the Cindy Sheehan crowd, the Code Pink girls, or the kind of folks pictured below? Neither can I. But let President Bush receive a warm welcome from Eastern European crowds who appreciate his leadership on behalf of their freedom, and "Today" just can't take it. On this morning's "Today" at 7:04 am EDT, NBC's Kelly O'Donnell reported from Bulgaria on the president's European trip, in which crowds in Bulgaria and notably in...

What Diane didn't tell you: the number of people backing universal coverage has dipped since ABC...

Is Barack Obama really running for president, or is he not-so-subtly positioning himself to be Hillary's running mate? I seemed to sense that 'subliminable' message on 'Today' this morning. The NBC show kicked off its "Today on the Trail" series, which will join the leading presidential contenders out on the campaign trail, with a feature on Obama. Meredith Vieira spent time on the trail with Obama in New Hampshire over the weekend. Most of the exchanges were predictable: Obama countered suggestions of a lack of experience by positioning himself as an outside-the-beltway candidate. He claimed that "retail" politicking -- talking with...

Appearing on Good Morning America today, Geraldo Rivera claimed that illegal aliens in the United States are "law abiding." Is he right? In a debate moderated by GMA co-host Diane Sawyer that began today at about 7:15 am EDT, Geraldo faced off against Glenn Beck. Rivera made a case for letting the estimated 12 million illegal aliens remain in the country. GERALDO RIVERA: We have 12 million people who are gainfully employed; the vast majority of them are. I submit to you that these people are a vital part of the American economy. That they are doing jobs that essentially...

Yes, "Good Morning America" did let us hear from a member of the VA Tech gun club saying he wished he could have had a concealed carry permit and "that I would not have felt that I was totally just a helpless victim at the mercy of this lunatic." Keying off the fourth anniversary of the Iraq war this Tuesday, the networks will be running overviews of the situation there all week. The picture painted is ceaselessly dismal, with any bright spots ignored or explained away. Take the report by ABC's Terry McCarthy on today's Good Morning America. After citing weekend casualty statistics, he began by claiming that "now more than ever" Iraqis are nervous about the future of their country. According...

GMA's Sawyer Allows Iranian President’s Wild Statements to Go Unchallenged Posted by Scott Whitlock on February 13, 2007 - 15:55. As already reported on NewsBusters, ABC’s Diane Sawyer continued her Dictator ‘07 Tour on Tuesday with a stop in Iran to interview President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Although the "Good Morning America" host did press the Iranian leader, it’s hard not ask some difficult questions to a man who repeatedly calls for the destruction of Israel. However, the questions were nowhere near as tough as in November 1998 when she interrogated special prosecutor Kenneth Starr. In that case, Sawyer told the Clinton investigator that...
