[history]
Now it's official. Democratic presidential candidates will square in a nationally televised debate in Greenville on Jan. 29, five days before South Carolina's crucial primary election, Joe Erwin, state Democratic Party chairman said Wednesday.
Greenville was selected over Charleston and Rock Hill, plus the other five states holding Feb. 3 primaries.

I didn't see this posted anywhere, and see a FReep opportunity, or perhaps an event to avoid like the plague ;^)

LOL! It will be like a bunch of conservative candidates debating in San Francisco.
Native son John Edwards will be the star...or he ought to be. If he's not, he's really screwed.
The anti-war talk will NOT go over well, even amongst a roomful of Democrats...unless they pack the venue with every anti-war "progressive" activist in the state of South Carolina. They might take up half the seats.

Who's Joe Erwin, and when did Dickie Harpootlian lose his job?

Harpootlian was bumped upstairs, to devote himself exclusively to ambulance-chasing and the interests of his fellow shysters.

If only the national party would do the same to Terry McAuliffe...or maybe they shouldn't. Maybe they should leave him right where he is, since he did such a good job in 2002, LOL!

I was born in SC in '44 and lived here all my life (so far) and I never heard of Edwards until he started being mentioned as a Presidential candidate.

"We want a big crowd," he said of the Peace Center, although the ticket distribution process has not been decided. Ticket distribution? How about "go out in the highways and hedges and compel them to come in"? That might work. As it is, I expect over half the ones that do show up to be imported, as many from Charlotte and Atlanta as from anywhere in SC.
My instinct is that this is not a FReep opportunity, but that could change if one of these dust bunnies breaks away from the crowd.
Or if the HillBillies show up. Now that might qualify.

Get real. A presidential debate in South Carolina is a huge event, no matter what the party, and according to the Greenville News, one has no chance of getting a ticket unless they're a party activist, an NBC dude, a Furman University Student or from one of the campaigns
"Demand has exceeded supply."
