Hi Billie and finest sistahs...Have to get back to work BUT...
Lori...two great movies that really give you a feel of New Orleans....The Big Easy and The Pelican Brief (if you can get past the fact that Julia Roberts is in the latter). Mr. D. and I watch The Big Easy at least a couple times a year when we're missing New Orleans. I think we just might be doing that tonight after I cook up a batch of gumbo!
Back later!

Latest E-mail from his wife. I hate all caps in a letter.
Thankyou for asking and your Prayers..
SEVERAL OF YOU HAVE ASKED WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED TO RUSS,
AND I ONLY RECENTLY REALIZE THAT I NEVER REPORTED TO YOU WHAT I FOUND.
I HAD TO GET A GOOD FRIEND OF HIS , MARK, TO GET A LADDER AND GO UP
AND FIND WHERE THE OTHER END OF THE SAFETY LINE WAS AND THIS IS WHAT
I THINK HAPPENED.
RUSS WENT OUT TO FIX A GUTTER, HE TIED OFF A SAFETY LINE BECAUSE HE
DID NOT TRUST THE INTEGRITY OF THE ROOF, AND HE WAS RIGHT B/C THE
ROOF CAVED IN AT THE GUTTER, WHERE THE WOOD UNDERNEATH THE TILES WAS
ROTTEN. HE LOST HIS FOOTING AT THE EDGE OF THE ROOF, THEN HIS SAFETY
LINE FAILED. THE LINE WAS TIED OFF AT HIS FOOT, SO WHEN HE FELL HE
HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO GO HEAD FIRST. AS FAULTY AS THE SAFETY LINE WAS,
I BELEIVE THAT IT BROKE HIS FALL BY AT LEAST 10 FEET AND THAT MIGHT
HAVE BEEN ENOUGHT DISTANCE TO SAVE HIS LIFE.
RUSS LOOKED GREAT TODAY, AND THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT TAKING THE FINAL
DRAIN OUT AND WEANING HIM OFF PARALYZING AND SEDATIVE DRUGS THIS WEEKEND
TO SEE HOW HE DOES.
KEEP HOLDING HIM UP!
UNDER HIS WING,
DAWN

Good morning, all! Louisiana! Yes! Another neighbor of ours, and one I have fond memories of as well. We have some very good friends there in southwest Louisiana - "Cajun" country. (Have traveled to Monterey, Mexico, and Vegas with them, and one of our visits to see them was spent in New Orleans during Mardi Gras.)
Marti introduced us to gumbo, etouffe, shrimp sauce piquant! I've never liked shrimp, but when she cooked it, it was delicious.
Thanks for this great cyber tour of Louisiana, Lori. Your state profiles are always such a visual treat. :)

Hi dutchess. Sorry, I had to leave the thread for awhile. I have some guys here putting in the forms for a sidewalk at the back of the house. Wanted to make sure they put it where I envision it. LOL.
I have wanted to visit New Orleans for years, still haven't gotten there. I imagine that it has a unique atmosphere, like San Francisco has....(or had before the liberals turned it into a haven for the homeless).
Thanks for coming by on your busy work day. Have a wonderful Friday. ((((((((dutchess)))))))))

Lori...two great movies that really give you a feel of New Orleans....The Big Easy and The Pelican Brief. I have seen The Pelican Brief......or maybe I just read it, I can't remember now. I've enjoyed all of John Grisham's novels and movies. Looking forward to reading/seeing The Runaway Jury too. I have read mixed reviews.
Anyway, I haven't seen The Big Easy, so I will put it on our list of movies to rent for the next trip to Blockbuster. :-)
