Sorry guys. Had to vote "No" on this one. In my mind, being a conservative means respecting free speech, unlike the Demoncrat vermin we battle. And like it or not, adult video stores are legal and the material is an expression of free speech.

They tell me that the local Demoncrats are pushing hard for a new adult superstore.
Conservative can also means responsibility through zoning ordinances. However, thanks for you input.

FreeRep,

I certainly agree with you that responsible zoning regs are very much a conservative issue. And it does NOT surprise me that the local Dems are pushing hard for a new adult superstore...they were probably BRIBED into doing so. But to me, the real issue is one of freedom and if we start telling porno stores that they have no right to exist, then we are no better than the leftists who try to oppress religious beliefs.

MarkDel,

I think the point is that local communities should have the ability to define and subsequently zone some commercial enterprises. If a particular community sets certain commercial standards of what the local populace deem not appropriate (prostitution), that's freedom. This system of local decision making allows for freedom. The 1st amendment gives(or up holds) pornographers the right to print and publish their product, but one can ban together with their neighbors and enact legislation to keep them away from our children schools. I certainly agree with you that leftists are trying to oppress religious beliefs and we should be better than them.

Thanks

"Freedom brings with it responsibility, yet at the same time it is possible to view responsibility as a freedom. Being responsible delivers freedom." President George Bush
