TALLAHASSEE, FL -- According to a news release sent by the Terry Schindler-Schiavo Foundation, Florida Speaker Johnnie Byrd will introduce "Terri's Bill" during the special session Monday.

The bill would put an immediate moratorium on all dehydration and starvation deaths in Florida. Meanwhile, supporters of Terri Schiavo showed up Sunday outside a Pinellas Park hospice.

Doctors say Schiavo has been in a vegetative state since complications from a heart attack in 1990. Her husband was granted a court order that her feeding tube be removed, saying his wife wouldn't have wanted to be kept alive.

Dobson calling it an "outrage"
"It is a horrible death"
"nausea, cramping, body slowly shuts down, seizures...it's Naziesque, can't believe it's happeneing in a civilized society"...

Hannity: Obvious this woman has some level of awareness and she's being starved to death.

Dobson: People across country should be calling in behalf of Terri.

Dobson: "Conflict of intersest regarding her husband" (Hannity had to take a hard commercial break)

Got what I could...

Here is a copy of the amended call for the special session that Jeb issued today on Monday, Oct. 20th. Note, it doesn't say anything about "Terri's Bill". This is exactly what I heard read on the house floor over the internet today.

He really does care. /sarcasm

PROCLAMATION
State of Florida
Executive Office of the Governor
Tallahassee
WHEREAS, on October 9, 2003, I called a Special Session commencing at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 20, 2003, and extending through 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2003; and

WHEREAS, the purpose of this Special Session is to convene the Legislature to consider legislation relating to the use by the State of Florida of one-time only funds provided as part of the President's economic stimulus package for use in several major new and existing economic development opportunities; and

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the people of the State of Florida to expand the scope of the call for this Special Session;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JEB BUSH, Governor of the State of Florida, by virtue of the power and authority vested in me by Article III, Section 3(c)(1), Florida Constitution, do hereby proclaim as follows:

The call to the Legislature of the State of Florida for this Special Session is expanded for the sole purpose of considering the following:

Legislation to reenact the Biomedical Research Trust Fund in the Department of Health, which serves as a repository for funding for research grants relating to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure of diseases.

Legislation creating exemption from public records and open meeting requirements for certain information held by the Scripps Florida Funding Corporation and the Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development; and legislation amending the public records exemption of Section 288.1067, Florida Statutes, to include the Economic Investment Mega Fund program.

Legislation to appropriate the one-time unclaimed lottery prize ($30.1 million cash value) to the Dr. Philip Benjamin Matching Grant Program for Community Colleges and to the University Major Gifts Program.

To consider and pass by joint resolution the interim state redistricting plan entered by the federal court to remedy the objections of the Department of Justice under Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Florida to be affixed to this Proclamation convening the Legislature in Special Session at the Capitol, this 20th day of October, 2003.

"Was it an email hoax?"

If it was, the American Life League was also taken in by it.

Terri Schiavo Sentenced to Slow, Painful Death, Says ALL; Fla. House Speaker to Introduce Emergency Bill to Save Her Life
10/20/03 3:00:00 PM

To: National Desk
Contact: Joe Giganti of the American Life League, 703-928-9695; e-mail: jgiganti@all.org; Web site: http://www.all.org
WASHINGTON, Oct. 20 /U.S. Newswire/ -- American Life League, the nation's largest pro-life educational organization, denounces the inhumane death sentence that has been foisted upon Terri Schiavo. "By the rules of war and the Geneva convention such actions-death by starvation-would be harshly condemned and punishable in an international court," said Judie Brown, president of American Life League. "Yet America yawns in apathy as a Florida judge does the very same thing to one of our own citizens while citing his distorted view of 'compassion.' This is an outrage."
In the wake of such judicial arrogance, State House Speaker Johnnie Byrd (R-Plant City) is expected to introduce a bill at today's special legislative session of the Florida legislature to impose an immediate moratorium on all imposed dehydration and starvation deaths. "We are happy to see that someone is willing to take this atrocity seriously, and hope that Rep. Byrd and the rest of Florida's elected officials will not rest until they have saved the life of this severely disabled defenseless American citizen, Terri Schiavo," Brown explained. "We pray that the legislature will pass 'Terri's Bill' and put an end to such inhumane, barbaric acts. If they fail to pass this bill, Gov. Jeb Bush must intervene to save Terri's life."
While Brown is encouraged by some of the positive steps being taken on Terri Schiavo's behalf, she notes a serious void in leadership within the Florida Catholic Conference of Bishops. "Most stunning throughout this lengthy, three-year battle to save Terri Schiavo's life has been the lack of consistent action by Florida's Catholic bishops, especially Bishop Robert Lynch of St. Petersburg. It is inexcusable that these shepherds find it acceptable to sit by virtually silent while one of their flock is being brutally and publicly murdered." In reference to the inadequate statements the bishops have issued, Brown said, "I am reminded of Christ's admonition to the Pharisees in Matthew 24. 'Blind guides' appears to be a fitting description of shepherds who have not taken the first meaningful public step to stand between this young woman and her executioners. The Florida bishops' silence has sent a clear message that they lack the courage to stand against this injustice."

Dr. Dobson just said that Terri's Bill wasn't introduced. That it was blocked by Sen. King. Dr. Dobson and Sean Hannity both say they have a call in to Jeb's office.

Could it be that Jeb Bush called for a special legislative session and people ASSUMED that there would be something pertaining to the Shiavo case involved?

Dr. Dobson just said that Terri's Bill wasn't introduced. That it was blocked by Sen. King
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, I know this is one side of the story, but according to Kings office and Byrds office, there was never such a bill to be presented. Alot of what Dobson has said is from Terris website.
I am not suggesting that Terris website is wrong, just pointing out what the other side of this is saying... they claim there never was a bill, therefore was never going to be presented.
Again, a sad sad day in Florida History
