Is it a proper "response" to insult someone in a rap song after Bill O'Reilly says that a performer's songs are profane and being marketed to kids?

Sure it is.It's called "free artistic expression"; something you seem to have a problem with, whether it's rap songs or nude sculptures.

Thankfully, we have a First Amendment which protects artists from moralistic busybodies who would censor them

O'Reilly is an overblown ego who wants to dish it out but can't take it

Statues of Greece's mythological muses (clothed or nekid) on public property don't seem to violate that ban on "religious sculptures". One man's mythology is another man's religion. If you want to continue fighting that argument, take it to the appropriate thread. It is considered bad manners at FR to dredge up old arguments from unrelated threads to attack a poster.

You still have yet to say how O'Reilly "can't take it". What proves this point? He has asked Ludokriskantspel to come on his show. Doesn't sound like he threw in the towel.

Take your conservative bashing agenda someplace else.

Please read the First Amendment. It places no limits whatsoever on private entities. The aptly named "Ludacris" has a right to be a vulgarian. I have a right to point out the fact that he is one, and urge my fellow citizens to shun his products. You have the right to misrepresent the First Amendment. I have the right to point out that you don't know what you're talking about.

Free speech works both ways.

I am a lawyer, and have argued many constitutional cases, including ones where free speech was at issue.

I venture that I am far more familiar with the Constitution, the ancillary federal statutes, and the case law than you are.

But that doesn't stop people like you from making stupid accusations, now, does it?

I know perfectly well that the first Amendment does not apply to private actors.

I also know that there is a faction on this forum who would dearly love to use obscenity laws, and other laws, to suppress free speech and free artistic expression.

Better check your screen name, there's a typo in there.

If you really are a lawyer, then:

a) You know what "nonresponsive" means.

b) You know what "speculative" means.

c) You've given further confirmation of my opinion of lawyers.

That is exactly what I was thinking. As a matter of fact I read the constitution last night and didn't see anything about the NEA's sculpting naked bodies and crap covered pictures of the Virgin Mary being considered free speech. And something else I couldn't find was the constitutional right to have an abortion - but that is for another thread.

You should see the kids in the schools with their pants hangin down, imitating the black sub-culture's music, speech patterns, dress, attitude. ALL to their DIS-advantage. I'd say that the schools & lib parents have finally succeeded in detroying the love of most of our cultural heritage in our children. But now even THEY cannot control what they have wrought.
