I'm talking about the Democrat Party machine, its leadership, its major candidates and its official party platform. I believe the individual people involved have been misled through propaganda and socialist dogma, ie, brainwashed from an early age (government schools breed good little socialist workers).

Personally I think you were giving BJ Billy a break when you called him a "useful idiot." I think he's rather more inimical than that.

That said, I am not an anti-Democrat per se. I think that that storied political party has become the vehicle for a certain subset of elitists who have in mind power, raw and unadorned, and who have taken unto themselves a philosophical approach that absolves them of any guilt for wrongdoing. Where that happens there is no check on that party but a direct opposition, which explains in part why American politics has become so tribal. They will not be softened, mollified, or become amenable to sweet reason, they must be actively opposed. There is no real choice.

But I also believe that the Republican party has succumbed in part to the temptation to fight the enemy with weapons of the enemy's own preference - state power, confiscatory fiduciary policies, and collectivist social practice, for starters - for the most seductive of reasons, that they are powerful and that they work. This is a very risky strategy, and the argument that it makes the Republicans something other than they ought to be given their philosophical underpinnings is one that needs to be taken seriously.

But in a practical world swinging too far to practice dictated by theory will only result in total control given to a side whose theory is no more than a cover for very nasty practice. It isn't a clean choice, and sometimes it can be a very unclean world.

Without FR I am sure many of us would have truly lost our minds.

BUMP WAAY TO THE TOP! Before I came across FR I truly did think my head was going to explode any day. The balance that this place gives the negative, leftist-loving American "media" is a God-send. Saves my sanity nearly every day. Fox News helps too. :-)

BTW - You mentioned the Wash Times Ad. I guess you're not aware that little episode also ended up in a power play to see who would run the site. It was also the run up to Lucianne's backstabbing (Cinderella used the mail list from that endeavor to spam people about leaving FR for L.com). There's much more to that story than anyone knows about.

I caught wind of it... but was pretty much burnt out on FR intrigue at that point.. ;^]

Firstly, I believe everything you say. I don't say that to kowtow to the owner of this site. I just happen to believe you. I also thank you for this site; I enjoy every minute (and dollar) I spend here. That said...let me ask you this. You wrote:

"...the Democrat Party supports and promotes: abortion; homosexuality; feminaziism; environmentalism; government control over every aspect of our lives and society; socialized health care; disarmament of the American people;"

Yet you endorsed and presumably voted for Ahhnold "Schwarzenkennedy", an avowed anti-gunner and pro-abortion candidate. Surely you saw the attacks made on anyone (except you) who recognized the need to defeat cruz bustamante as the most important issue in the California recall election. Those who, like myself, would much rather have seen the true conservative, Tom Mcclintock, get elected but knew our votes must go to Arnold as Tom stood little chance of victory in the liberal state of California. Even today, the attacks continue.

I've yet to see anyone attack your credibility on the issue as they have done to so many others. So what do/would you say to those who would and do question the conservative principle of those who voted for Arnold? I'd really like to hear your take.

Thanks,
-SoFo

Less government, or NO government?

the corrupt socialist Democrat Party.

Hear hear!

Any party with the Cintons and Fat Teddy Kennedy at the head is at the *very* least completely corrupt (if not criminal) and morally bankrupt from the neck down ...

I propose doing so by destroying enemy number one of the Constitution, the corrupt socialist Democrat Party.

What? And lose my #1 source for laughs? The Demmycrats are almost as funny as the Joe Schmo show. I don't want to lose such a great source for comedy.

Jim, I thank you for your letter. I support you whole heartedly. I came to Free Republic because I have the same beliefs as you. Why today, I heard on the news that "62% of Americans support the idea of government sponsored medical care" (socialized medicine). I know it's a plant and I'm upset about that. Anyway, I want to say thank you for this website. We do have a united voice here. Someone does hear us. You're a good man.

If you have a workable plan for doing that via some other political party other than the Republican Party, I'm all ears. Please lay it on us.

I do. Register as a democrat and vote for the least likely candidate in their primaries. In the last gubernatorial campaign in Maryland over 100,000 registered democrats voted for an unkown, zero funded, and never mentioned green grocer against Kathleen Kennedy Townsend. Those votes were made by voters who supported (now) Governor Ehrlich and monkeywrenched the primary process.

Jim, what has distinguished you over the years is your passion. And your ability to articulate your passion on your site makes you, well, important.

You, and your site, make real all the every day frustrations we see in the media bias that keeps the country asleep to the demons that would destroy this Republic.

Well Jim, you're the wake up call.

I salute you.
