Excuse the vanity question here. Can we buy land in Iraq or Afghanistan? Anyone know how?

Are the landmine rights in the title or do they belong to the State?

You can buy land, but you'll need to get yourself one of these handy-dandy mine clearing rigs first.

One more thing. Can I have your PC after you are murdered by the Tali-whackers?

I am sure you can but you must follow these rules:
1. Convert to Islam
2. Buy multiple size burquas for the females in your family.
3. Keep a AK47 over your mantle of your fireplace which also
serves as your cooking stove.
4. Make sure you have alot of vehicles for escape - (camels, goats, donkeys, etc.)
5. Dump all your razor blades before buying any property you won't need it when you grow your beard like Grizzly Adams.

A fool and his money are soon parted.
In five years you can buy land in Central Europe. Waste your money in Christian lands.

I don't know if this is true in Iraq or Afghanistan, but it is my impression that it is generally very difficult for foreigners to actually own property just about anywhere except the US. Many countries explicitly deny the right for foreigners to own any property in their country. The Czech republic is an example. "Although aliens enjoy the same ownership rights as Czech citizens in the vast majority of areas, the situation is different in instances involving acquisition of real estate. Generally, aliens can not buy real estate."

A common way around such a restriction is to obtain a 99 year lease. Usually there are local real estate offices that can help you setup such a lease, with a local owner being the one to actually purchase the property on your behalf.

Buying land in Russia would be far safer.
