I've serviced office equipment at the IRS processing centers. When you aks why this scam got feet? I can tell you that those inside looked the other way on purpose. This takes complicit workers inside the IRS to pull off.

IRS spokeswoman Michelle Lamishaw said the idea of filing reparations claims may have originated with a 1993 Essence magazine editorial urging blacks to seek refunds of $43,206 per household as a delinquent tax rebate.

Isn't this illegal. Isn't Irwin Schiff in jail for this, or is it just for tax evasion.

I suspect he was ignored for promotion not because he is black, but because he most certainly has a shitty attitude and I am sure he brought it to the office with him.

You know, every time I hear about the injustice of slavery and the lack of reparations, I think -

Hey, if it were not for slavery, your butt would still be running around naked and almost starved to death in the African Bush - dying from commonly curable diseases, drought, and utter poverty - gee wiz - sounds like he got something for his ancestor's "investment" to me....

According to the Internal Revenue Service, more than 80,000 tax returns were filed in 2001 seeking nonexistent slavery tax credits, totaling $2.7 billion. More than $30 million was mistakenly paid out in slave reparations in 2000 and part of 2001.

I want to know how the IRS accomplished this particular screw-up.

If you have ever had any 'serious' dealing with the IRS you might better ubderstand how this could happen. IMHO this was accomplished with 'inside help.'

The actual truth is that none of them would have ever been born. The events leading to their parents meeting would have never taken place, since their parents would have never been born either.

Yeesh!

I've been fighting the IRS for the last 7 months over a $600 error (on their part), and $30 million is OOPS! "mistakenly" given away?

"Black people are not treated as humans, but as things by the U.S. government," he said in an interview at the Northern Neck Regional Jail. "We were used as resources to enrich this country and we get no inheritance from the wealth we brought."

Yo Bobby Lee . . . there is a world of difference between "are" and "were," especially when "were" is 150-some years ago.

Foster renounced his U.S. citizenship in jail and professed allegiance to the Moab Tiara Cherokee Kituwah Nation, an obscure Charlotte, N.C., group whose members claim they are descendants of African Moors who came to the New World before European colonialists.

All of you who were wondering what tribe I'm from . . . Im a Moab Tiara. Which is good, 'cause I look fetching in a tiara.

More recently, Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich said that if elected president he would order a study of reparations for descendants of slaves.

Robert Foster wanted to mane his daughter "Sue" but was reminded by his wife that it was a verb. They later settled on their favorite drug and decided to name her "Crystal". (/sarcasm)

Nothing short of contempt for people like this trying to get back at "da man"!

(Further regressing the rights of honest, less hateful, less greedy folks.)

I want to know how the IRS accomplished this particular screw-up.

In the refund that was mistakenly paid out, 25-year-old Crystal Foster claimed she had overpaid taxes on long-term capital gains in 2000. She listed the fictitious "Black Capital Investments" fund of the U.S. Treasury as the source of the gains.

They fibbed on their returns. Did not claim slavery, just claimed they gave too much.

send em to Guantonomo Bay...renounced citizenship, let him rot with the Taliban.

when in his life was he treated as property, as he claims? My Spanish ancestors surely were oppressed by the Moors, so maybe I can sue them?
