Gore To The Rescue
The Conning Tower ^ | Oct. 23, 2003 | Trentino

Posted on 10/23/2003 2:47:48 PM PDT by Davis

Albert Gore, Jr., former Vice-president, yes, the candidate who was unable to carry his home state of Tennessee in 2000 and thus lost the presidential election, has identified the source of his party's difficulties: a failure to communicate its message. He claims it is being drowned out by right-wing media, chiefly FOX News and conservative talk radio. The solution, per Mr. Gore, is to acquire or build media outlets, Internet websites and cable news networks.

Gore's starting premise is shaky. He, like Eric Alterman, seems to have overlooked a number of news outlets--ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, the NYTimes, WashPo, LATimes, Time, Newsweek, PBS, American Prospect, USA Today, inter alia. Alterman says they aren't Liberal. Gore ignores their existence entirely.

Gore posits that no well informed voter would consider pulling a lever, touching a screen, poking out a chad for his opponents. Hence, such voters must be ignorant. Of course, there is no empirical proof that we're ignorant. On the contrary, there's plenty of evidence that listeners to Conservative talk radio are more educated and better informed about public affairs than the generality of voters for Gore and other recent Democratic candidates. But any explanation for the Left losing elections other than the ignorance (or worse) of the electorate appears to be unacceptable to Mr. Gore and friends.

Gore doesn't recognize the contempt quotient of his starting assumption of voter ignorance. More, he has never articulated the message he intends to express, the message he insists has been left unexpressed by ABC, NBC, CBS, and all the rest.

But there is a message encapsulated in this omission. Gore's core idea is his abhorrence of markets. The free behavior of the people, their choice of radio talk hosts, newspapers, magazines, television channels, and the behavior of the news outlets themselves are all wrong. All those news outlets refusing to publish the vital message of Mr. Gore and his confreres on the Left. It's a conspiracy, right?

No, it's not a conspiracy. And Gore's real message is indeed getting through although it's not the one he thinks it is.. But the Left can no longer pretend that socialism has any merit, will bring material abundance or spiritual freedom; that argument has evaporated, vanished into thin air. Deprived of its core belief, the Left, Mr. Gore included, is reduced to whining.

Whining is unattractive. Pessimism isn't a program voters can rally around. Stepping up the volume, screaming "fraud, lies," happily anticipating quagmire and barely concealing their hope that the economy will collapse before Election Day, 2004 isn't likely to be a winning strategy regardless of whether Al Gore manages to launch his liberal network.

Where does Mr. Gore think he's going to get his viewers? Launching a network with not even the slightest pretention of objectively will draw no one but the liberal elite.

With a likely of motto of, "We Report, We Decide" Gore TV will be slightly more successful than MSNBC.

Gore's got a real problem here. How does he get more left wing than CNN and dumber than MTV? Ay, Albert, there's the rub!

Two problems:

1. The last Dem with good comm skills was JFK

2. The message

He'll steal them away from Phil Donahue.

The message they put out is very clear; America is evil and deserved the attacks of 9-11-01.

And it's a message I will never accept.

When I heard that libs were thinking about creating their own radio or tv station to "get their message" out, it took me a while to stop laughing before I could think clearly about the whole fiasco. GET THEIR MESSAGE OUT??!!? They've overwhemingly been getting their message out, at the expense of the conservative message, for the past forty years. Most Americans still don't understand why free-market capitalism, self-reliance, a strong military, and limitations of the federal government are good things. Things that our country is based on. The ratio of liberal gobbledygook to conservative hard-headed realism is still about ten to one. Get their message out, bah!

Yup. The Totem-Pole dolt is still trying to "reinvent himself."

He is a pathetic creature; and a puppet for eight years in the Clinton administration. This moron really doesn't get it. He should stay home and French (sorry "soul kiss his wife, as he did during his campaign for a few hours) and take a viagra pill.

Then maybe he'd wake up and... nevermmind. His IQ is less than outdoor room temperature in Antarctica in June.

He's a lying LIEberal like Bill and Hillery and McVeigh. If he'd spent time in a uniform, he'd have respect for this coutnry. But no. He's a clueless pampered spoiled brat.

What a looozer. He won't dare have Ann Coulter on his network, because her legs are way better than Al F**ken's.
