Jeff, your scenario of terrorists setting fires out west certainly seems plausible now, given CA!

Jeff,
It did my heart good to see you ping our old friend tommygun to this. I know he either is, or would be, cheering this series on.
Do you remember, more than two years ago, talking with my Dad on the phone just after I had given him one of your pre-edited chapters to read (I believe we were working on 'Breath of Fire' at the time)? He was telling you how much he enjoyed reading what you had thus far written, but said that he had one complaint (almost verbatim): 'If joanie hadn't assured me that you were a patriot and a conservative, I would think you had it in for this country, what with all the destruction you are wreaking on us.' (said tongue-in-cheek, of course :). -- I still remember sitting in my back yard with him, and watching the smile on his face as he spoke those words.
Now, more than two years later, I have felt somewhat the same way he did during my reading of the first seven chapters of 'The Long March.' :) But I know full well that the continued dramatic losses, both human and material, may well turn out to be the awful price we pay before winning a conceivable war against those who would enslave the planet to their hideous ideology.
It's been an honor and a pleasure working with you. I'm looking forward to the completion of 'The Long March,' and the hard-won, bittersweet victory that I know will be just as artfully depicted in 'Eagles Talons'.
