Media Has Blood on its Hands, Iraq GI Tells Rep. King

Rep. Peter King, R-NY, delivered a stark message on Tuesday from an unnamed U.S. military officer now stationed in Baghdad who believes negative press coverage of the U.S. war effort has cost American soldiers their lives.

While flying back to the U.S. aboard a military transport, King told nationally syndicated radio host Sean Hannity via satellite phone, "I promised an American colonel yesterday, an Army colonel, that [I'd relay his message]: 'There's blood on the hands of the American media.'"

"He's lost men because of the terrible reporting and it's just creating a terrible atmosphere," King said the Army colonel told him.

"The troops have tremendous morale. But unfortunately the terrorists are encouraged and the Iraqi people are being dissuaded from cooperating with the American forces because of the terrible coverage back here," King said.

The unnamed GI, who King said had two graduate degrees, shared his disturbing assessment as the two flew by helicopter from the Baghdad airport to the Al Rashid hotel.

Paraphrasing the Army colonel's words, the New York Republican said, "I just want you to know that there's blood on the hands of the American media; that my men and women are going to die because of them."

The GI's message continued, "We are winning this war and the only way we can lose this is if the American people lose their nerve and that's because of what's going on in the American media."

King said he concurred with the Army colonel's complaint, saying, "What I saw is totally different from what the American media is reporting."

Noting that he was in Baghdad during the wave of terrorist attacks this weekend, King said that, "in spite of all of that, life is virtually normal in Baghdad."

"What the media doesn't show is that the rest of Baghdad is traffic jams, markets open . . . you would have thought you were in midtown Manhattan," the New York Republican contended.

"Life is so different when you're there from the way it's being portrayed in the media."

The other way to look at it though is that Iraqi's are everyday acquiring satelite dishes, and seeing the US air it's dirty laundry in the open has to be a truly profound lesson after all those years of Baghdad Bob. The media war is not just confined to Iraq, but is a crucial thing all over the Moslem world. To paint only a rosy picture and let Aljezeera feed out the scoops would be a great error in my opinion.

We feed a lot propaganda over the arab airwaves, but I have always thought that the best way to get into their hearts and minds would just be to offer their businesses free advertising and run their ads with arab music. Make lots of friends that way and build their economy.

..."If this is progress, I don't know how much more we can take."
....
And this right AFTER the president mentioned that the terrorists expect us to cave and are using the terror strikes to make us leave. Then Daschle pops up with his dumb comment.

Why doesn't he just say - "Yes, we are pulling out - help us elect a democrat and we will be out of there in one month."

If the Iraq war is not Vietnam now it will be by the time the American media
get done with it.

I hereby nominate the New York Times for 2003 Quisling Award, and the big 3
networks and cnn for the 2003 Benedict Arnold Medal.

The US liberal leftist press has given aid and comfort to our enemy in Iraq. They ought to be ashamed but then liberals have no shame.

It's painfully obvious, that in a presidential election cycle the democrat dominated media doesn't wish to see a Republican president handed a victory of any kind, especially one on the war they were foursquare against. A war in which they have been carping against continuously, investing all the power of Georbels on steriods to try to sway the hearts and minds of the American people.

In leau of a full-on torch and pitchfork assault, people need to keep doing what they're doing, just tuning the propagandists at CBS\NBC\ABC and CNN out. Then they'll eventually come a-beggin' for us to keep their sorry hydes on the air by trying to change their stripes. It won't work, we won't be buying it, and they and there socialist nightmare will be gone.

Well, I can hope anyway. Remember, the more people learn the truth about socialism, the more they oppose it.

Man you just KNOW this is going to cause some serious madness on the part of the liberal media.

You just know it's coming.

You know, when the libs are so afraid of something that they reach the red alert of looney behaviour.

I cannot wait.

This should be good for another few days of serious comedy.

I don't think it's just the media. It's the All-Negative-All-The-Time lousy/slanted Iraq coverage, COMBINED with representatives from ONE OF THE TWO MAJOR POLITICAL PARTIIES IN THE U.S.A. coming out publicly, on a daily basis, renouncing the war in Iraq, complaining, saying we are losing, we should get out, exc...

This COMBINATION of factors is what's sending the message to Saddam loyalist's and Al Queda -that if they KEEP ATTACKING OUR SOLDIERS-EVENTUALLY WE WILL GIVE UP-AND THEY WIN. -This is the message the drunken-blimp Kennedy, and the rest of the 'rats, are sending to our ennemies. There is no arguing about this point: We have Saddam Huessein saying this on tape (and I think we have something from Al Queda too) -Saddam telling his people to keep attacking- because the Americans are weak- they will give up.-I really wish President Bush would trade in the "new tone" for a roll of duct tape- tape their irresponsible, stupid mouths shut, the next time they go spouting off, and sending this message to the world. But I guess he can't do that.

At the very least , during the up-coming election- I'd like to see him bring this up. Make the differences clear to the American people - democrats want to run away and hide from the War on Terror, and pretend 9/11 never happened- Our getting out of Iraq ,before it is stable, would be the single worst, most dangerous, message we could send to our ennemies- But the dems would send this message loud and clear- - that we are weak, and run at the first sign of difficulty= as much as giving an engraved invitation to AlQueda, and any other radical islams, to come and attack us . (If you all remember- OBL attacked us 9/11- because he thought we'd fall apart, give up, surrneder.

Name ONE THING the democrat party has done to HELP AMERICA in The War on Terror, since 9/11?

Yes, that's right, I said name something/anything the dems have done to help America?

What's that you say democrat...You don't understand the question?

No, no-"putting John Ahscroft on trial" doesn't count
I didn't say, name one thing you did to help the detainess/terrorists ... I'm asking about America.

How have you helped.... What's that you say.
..."calling Afghanistan a quagmire 1 week into combat"?
...no, that's helping the Taliban....

America democrats, America- How have you helped Am......

"The U.N"....
no, that's helping France...

Let me spell it out for you: A-m-e-r-i-c-a, you know, the place we all call home..
What are you saying now?....

"No WMD's, Iraq's a quagmire"....
This is REALLY A HARD QUESTION FOR YOU isn't it dems?....

Thanks for the ping........ The media can and does influence opinion and they have a responsibility to be accurate in their reporting.... When involved with military actions they can impact soldier's lives so they need to be very mindful of their reporting so as not to endanger our military.

Support our troops ~ Support President Bush ~ We are winning the war on terrorism!

The evidence is there ~ Too bad that the pro-terrorist democrats and their left-wing lackeys in the media are so brain dead!
