The Secret Government

My name is Luke Braly and I am a resident of Irving Texas. I grew up in Irving, graduated from high-school here, got my undergraduate degree from Dallas Baptist University, and my Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Dallas. I was a contract programmer in the Dallas area for over ten years. I am a lifelong resident of the Dallas area. For over three years however, I have been the target of continual harassment of an extremely bizarre nature from some branch of law enforcement. They are apparently utilizing sophisticated and undoubtedly highly classified technology to achieve this. In the fall of 1999 and continuing on into the spring of 2000, I gained a good deal of notoriety, posting on the web under the handles "Voice of Reason" and subsequently "Laser" in the news discussion forum Lucianne.Com. I have always considered myself a conservative. I was only too happy to find an on-line forum to vent my frustrations after eight years of Clinton. My own impression was that my posts were garnering A LOT of attention.

In addition, starting in 1998, I had been growing marijuana in my apartment, where I lived alone. It had been years since I had been a regular smoker and I didn't have any connections. I really had an aversion to skulking around, looking for unsavory individuals to buy pot from. Also, I didn't want to develop a whole new subculture of drug-using friends, just so I could smoke a little weed. Therefore, I was quite intrigued to discover that everything one needed to grow pot could be found on the web - seeds of the highest quality, equipment, and advice from thousands of people across the globe, all maintaining small sophisticated hydroponic grows strictly for their own personal use.

I eventually configured a cabinet in my apartment with lights, ventilation fans, pumps, etc, and began to grow weed hydroponically. However, it wasn't easy or intuitive at all, especially for someone like me who had never before grown anything in his life. The yield from my first two grows was very slight. It wasn't until my third grow that I had everything really dialed-in and produced some respectable results. However, when I decided to post to a cannabis-related site some digital photos of my results ( a few ounces right before harvest), I took no steps at all to conceal my ip address. It was during this time that I had been posting on Lucianne.Com as well.

I guess I knew it was stupid, but was just being reckless, brazen or whatever. Some time after this, I began to notice when browsing Lucianne.Com that people would start posting articles about marijuana. I eventually figured out what was going on, but was having too good a time posting, (and was probably in too good a frame of mind) for it to really bother me. (Also, I didn't really consider it was cops, and furthermore, I wasn't actually growing anything at the time.) However, some even stranger things were going on, which I completely disregarded at the time. For example, I was a subscriber to DirectTV, and I noticed that there was an unusual number of movies being shown about drugs. Also, there seemed to be a number of obscure movies being shown with titles or content that seemed to coorelate with things I had said on the web, had done in my apartment, etc. (More about that later.)

During this time the one thing I had become really concerned about was my drinking. I had been drinking heavily for the previous two years and was concerned about my health. I resolved to quit. Then, after a few weeks of sobriety, on the day before my 39th birthday, I also threw away what was left of the marijuana. I woke up on my 39th birthday stone-cold sober. I started thinking about everything that had transpired, and specifically about a strange radio broadcast I had heard a few months earlier (i.e. quite some time before I had posted pictures to the cannabis web site).

I had been at home, and while listening to the radio, an interview with a local police officer was broadcast. It concerned tactics the police employ in drug investigations. The police spokesman described how they bug a suspect's home by remotely comprimising his phone to act as a listening device. Then, according to the spokesman, the suspect will be made aware (in ways not specified) that his home is being bugged, and furthermore, the suspect will somehow be made aware that his own phone is being used to do it. It was said that when the suspect finds out, he'll often start cursing and carrying on, and then get remorseful and apologize. It was said furthermore that the police get a big laugh out of these outbursts, although there's nothing they can do about it legally, since the suspect doesn't really know who he's talking to. The suspect may also just unplug his phone, at which point according to the spokesman the police will use various techniques to harass the individual. For example, an officer is sent to the house to knock on the door, purportedly for some unrelated reason. Or, according to the spokesman, the police will drive by the suspect's house repeatedly, blaring their sirens, which will not concern surrounding neighbors at all, but will drive the suspect to distraction, because he knows its directed at him. Finally in the broadcast, it was said that the suspect may somehow get the distinct impression he's being watched in his own home as well, but in fact he's not, only listened to.

As I was thinking about this radio broadcast, the odd posts in Lucianne.Com, the movies being shown on DirectTV, etc. a light went on in my mind: Had the radio broadcast been a fake, somehow beamed only at me? Had the police been bugging my apartment for the last several months, possibly watching me as well, and spreading embarassing information about me to the media or whoever? Was it also somehow related to the fact that I had been attacking and lampooning the Clinton Adminstration on the web for the last several months?

I hit the ceiling and immediately started cursing whoever was listening. Then, just to give the cops something else to be amused about, I started making the most graphic threats I could think of. Finally, in a moment of desperation, I prayed out loud to God asking that he "make these people see that what they're doing is wrong." That calmed me down considerably. Then, that evening, on March 28th 2000, my birthday, the FBI headquarters in Fort Worth was completely destroyed by a tornado. I'm relating this last event because: A) It happened. B) Its verifiable C) It may be the only explanation for the extremely bizarre subsequent behavior of the police, which continues to this very day. Are the police blaming me every time one of them gets a headache or something, because they think I'm the AntiChrist? Who knows? I assure you, I do NOT have delusions of grandeur, think I have a special relationship with God, or otherwise think the event as I related it somehow places me above the law. (The question is, do the police think it places them above the law?) Frankly, I don't know quite what to make of it. (Who would?)

If I momentarily contemplated that this strange event might actually impress upon the police "that what they were doing was wrong" I could not have been more wrong. In fact, it was only the beginning of an ordeal of bizarre harassment by the authorities that continues to this very day, of a type that I cannot begin to fathom how any normal rational person could bear up under it, and maintain his composure, equilibrium and faith in humanity. The day after the tornado, a radio reporter covering the accident announced that the FBI was moving from Fort Worth to temporary headquarters in Las Colinas. My apartment was in Las Colinas (i.e. 20 miles from Fort Worth). Was this radio "broadcast" also a fake, beamed only at me?

Soon afterward, the siren treatment started. It went on for a few days before I said to myself, "What is it with all the sirens? This is ridiculous." And then it dawned on me: "The fake radio broadcast! They're really doing it!" It would continue unabated for the next 9 months until I was finally driven out of my apartment: blaring sirens when I pulled into my parking space, blaring sirens when I left, blaring sirens right when I put my head on the pillow to go to sleep at night, blaring sirens waking me up in the morning, blaring sirens several times a day, each and every day. There were blaring sirens right when I would post something on the web. (Out of embarassment, I was no longer using my handle "laser".) I was dumbfounded that public resources would be used in this calculated manner for the sole purpose of waging psychological warfare against one private citizen. I have no frame of reference from anything I've ever learned about America, our Constitutional Republic, the Bill of Rights, or the Rule of Law to even begin to make sense of this sort of behavior from public officials.

(Note: Some of the following few paragraphs is rather sketchy, because in the chronology of events it was almost three years ago. Also, I was just too dumbstruck at the time to carefully document everything that was happening in real time. However, much more thorough documentation of more recent harassment can be found in subsequent paragraphs.)

Then there was the army of cops on the internet, continuously posting insulting articles directed at me (and evidently derived via lexis-nexis, google-news search, etc.) to indicate they could see and hear me in my apartment. For example, I could take a shower, step out of the bathroom wearing a towel, and the latest article posted to Lucianne.Com would be entitled "Naked to the World". I could fart and ten minutes later, ther would be an obscure article posted about some scientist studying sheep flatulence in New Zealand. The police sabotaged whole web pages. For example they rendered the AltaVista.com search engine completely inoperable for me, by making it return lists of marijuana sites no matter what the search criteria. Also , whatever I was typing in an editor would come out as garbage. I reformatted my hard disk and reinstalled everything several times to no avail.

There was a continuous stream of obscure movies broadcast on DirectTV with the sole intention of harassing me and causing me mental distress. For example, one of the ways I expressed my chagrin at the police (and I admit this sounds kind of silly) was to play the scene from Reservoir Dogs where a cop gets his ear cut off. Meanwhile, I whistled the theme to the Andy Griffith Show. In retaliation, the police had DirectTV run a movie over and over again called The Power of the Whistler, an utterly obscure film from the fifties about some mass murderer who whistles. In the scene I was watching, it depicts the police going into the suspect's apartment while he's gone to examine his personal belongings for clues. Another movie the police would have DirectTV run was called The Fourth Floor, about some psycho that lived on the fourth floor of an apartment building. I lived on the fourth floor of an apartment building. Even to this day, I continue to be harassed through standard cable TV. For example, they're repeatedly running a commercial for a local funeral home which is about a mile from my house. What is up with that???

In spite of my shock, confusion, indignance and despair over what was happening, there were nevertheless moments in which I expressed heartfelt repentance and apologies to whoever was listening. I apologized for the idle threats. At another time, I said that at least the whole ordeal had gotten me to stop drinking and for that I was grateful. On yet another occasion, I said that although my civil liberties were being grossly violated, I nevertheless considered it punishment from God, much like the Children of Israel suffered at the hands of the Assyrians and Babylonians. However, my penitence never resulted in the cessation in any way of the aforementioned harassment.

To my shock, I was soon to discover that the surveillance was not limited to my own apartment. One day I drove my mother to the airport because she was leaving the country for a month to visit friends in Brazil. (I had told her nothing of any of this.) I was looking forward to spending time at her house in her absence, away from the constant harassment of god-like tormentors who had in effect taken up residence in my apartment. I drove to my mother's house, and crashed out on the sofa for a bit, relishing the peace and quiet as well as the apparent solitude. When I woke up, I booted up the computer and went to the Lucianne.Com page. The article at the top of the page was about men in their thirties losing muscle definition because they get sedentary and spend too much time on the sofa. Now I knew: these people were somehow even spying on me in my mother's house (and presumedly spying on her as well). One day I had to leave my car in the shop and asked my mom to drive me to the car rental place. When I got back to my apartment, I went to the Lucianne.Com web site. The article at the top of the page was about a mother and son crime team, and the next article was about reckless driving. (I had as a matter of fact been driving very fast.)

After nine months of this I was jobless, and in January of 2001 I moved in to my mother's house where I remain to this day. I have been tormented constantly by the knowledge that cops are in my mother's home, by all indications actually watching, but in any case certainly listening to every thing in our house. I have been tormented that my mother is completely oblivious to this, and in any case, would never believe me if I told her. Actually, I did tell her once, and she replied in the most condescending and dismissive demeanor imaginable. I tried to explain to my sister as well, with the same predictable results. I had actually consulted a criminal lawyer previously who had the same reaction. In fact, everyone around me is treating me like I'm mentally ill. I tried to bear up under this without uttering a single world directed at the cops for over eight months. However, the fact that I knew they were constantly listening made me turned my hostility against my mother, I am very sorry to say, (and no, I don't mean physical abuse). I will admit right now that I have not handled this well, at all.

To this very day, individuals in Lucianne.Com and FreeRepublic.Com continue to post articles to let me know they can see and hear in my Mom's home. There is a core group of individuals that do this headed by someone with the handle 'chance33_98' in FreeRepublic.Com. Others include 'mhking' 'aculeus' 'quidnunc' (in FreeRepublic) and in Lucianne.Com, 'Deldad', 'Kalkin', 'wookie' and some others. The examples go on and on and on and on. One day shortly after moving in, I had an argument with my mother, and then sat down at the computer. Someone had posted an article about some guy getting arrested for beating up his mother and growing pot in her house. One day I was in the study fixing a paper jam in the copier. My mother was there and for whatever reason, we get into a discussion about paper. She leaves the room. A few minutes later I lean over to the computer and hit refresh on the Free Republic web site. The top two posted articles are both about paper. For a while I started smoking again, and was taunted about it by chance33_98. For example I would step outside to smoke a cigarette, come back inside and hit refresh on the FreeRepublic website, and the top article was by chance33_98: "Vacaville Considers Restricting Smoking Outdoors". Another poster who does this sort of thing is "wookie" in Lucianne.com. Some family friends were over one day, and we got into a discussion about car colors. A short time later, "wookie" posts the following article: "Study Car Color Reveals Personal Details". One morning I was frying eggs for myself, and within minutes "wookie" had posted the article, "Man tried to fry eggs in carton". Another morning, I was cleaning up our flooded back porch with a wet-vac after torrential rains. I was discussing it with my mother. I then went into Lucianne.com and the latest article posted was by "wookie": "Swimming Pool Lands Man In Hot Water"

By far the most disturbing posts however, are those that indicate the aformentioned individuals (esp. chance33_98) can actually see in our house. For example, the other day I was in the kitchen where I peeled and ate a banana. I then went into the study and into FreeRepublic.Com on the computer. The top article was the following: "We're watching what you eat". The next articles posted was, "Defenceless banana 'will be extinct in 10 years". For whatever reason, many articles where its obvious I'm being watched reflect what's taking place in the kitchen. I can eat a grill-cheese sandwich and someone will immediately post an article about cheese. I can eat some olives and someone will immediately post an article about olives. Interestingly, there is a direct line of sight from a neighbor's window across the alley over our back fence and into our kitchen. The blinds in their window are always closed, and at night they keep a floodlight on in their backyard (i.e. in front of their window). They are the only house on the block that does this. But then, how am I being watched in my own bathroom? Within minutes after emerging from the bathroom, I'll be mocked with posts indicating I was being watched. Specific details would make this perfectly clear, but modesty prevents me from relating them. However, it has happened over and over and over again, and needless to say is confusing and disturbing to an extreme degree. Then one day, someone posts the following in FreeRepublic: "New 'T-ray' Space Camera Also Sees Through Clothes, Walls".

In several instances chance33_98 and others have demonstrated the ability to track me visually and in real time via satellite whenever I'm outside. For example, I left the house to go rolling-blading one day, and ended up on a public pathway that runs along a small river for several miles. I got home and immediately went to the Lucianne.com web-site. (This had become something of a compulsive habit, needless to say.) The very top article was entitled "Rolling on a River". The other day I rode my bike to the library, went into FreeRepublic on the library computer, and the top article was by dighton: "Cyclist to stand trial for falling off bike" (This sort of thing happens all the time.) The computer at my mother's house is hopelessly overrun by LEO's, and I have in the past gone to use the computer at the library, not to conceal any illegal activity, of which there is none, but rather to have some privacy from predators in law enforcement who are bent on constantly harassing me. However, it is a hopeless cause because they're on the library computer as well and taunt me with that fact. For example, I went to the library to research on-line prescriptions, and right when I got back to my house I went into FreeRepublic. The most recently posted article was by chance33_98: "Medical Board Fines Out-of-State Doctors for Internet Prescriptions" (2/11/2003). He then immediately posted a second article about online prescriptions. If I go into FreeRepublic while at the library, chance33_98 will immediately start posting articles to harrass me, e.g. an article about a deranged homeless man being banned from the library, etc.

I eventually did start addressing the police again, waiting till I was alone in the house and then launching into extended monologues to whoever was listening. As I mentioned previously, after I moved into my Mom's house, I went over eight months without addressing the police out loud in any way, just reading the crap they were posting in FreeRepublic, etc. and just seething. Then one Sunday morning I broke my silence, and was hurling insults at whoever was listening, mostly accusing them of being white trash and servile lackeys for tyrants. As I was continuing in this vein the phone rings. I pick it up and someone on the other end voices some unintelligible invective and hangs up. Some weeks after that, I started renewing apologies for my known sins, as well as anything else my government held a grudge against me for. I also engaged in long philosophical treatises, opining that my God-given rights were being flagrantly violated, and that maybe God himself had to police the police. Then one day in utter exasperation I made overt death threats again. (It had been a while.) The very next day, a series of Irving Cops drove down our normally quite residential street in front of our house blaring their sirens. (Let me state for the record, I have no intention of taking the law into my own hands to harm or kill anyone.)

Articles have been posted many times in direct response to comments I made during such monologues. For example, one day I was in the house alone, yelling and screaming to whomever was listening and made comments regarding the continual harassment via sirens. Within an hour, a brand new poster appeared in FreeRepublic with the handle "QuietAmerican". The article he posted was entitled "Everyday Traffic Noise Harms Children's Health and Well Being". In the discussion thread that followed QuietAmerican made a couple of cryptic comments: "I fight fair, I fight hard, and I do not quit. It is the noisemakers who are whining, much like a baby whose rattle has been taken away. In the same manner, noisemakers whine when they are asked to behave responsibly. There is a world of difference between a whiner and a fighter!" Also: "It is my intention to put the noisemakers "in closets, wrapped in cotten. Those who put noise on other peoples property are trespassing and robbing quiet from other people. The 'Conservatives for Quiet' will put the pornography of noise back into the owner's closet where it belongs." On another occasion, I was imploring anybody listening to do the right thing and confess to the public and to me what the authorities were directing them to do. In response dighton (see above) posted within an hour an article entitled "Secret police get chance to confess".

A few nights ago, I was wandering around in the darkness at 3:00 in the morning moaning and sobbing in utter exasperation that this is never going to end, and I'm never going to have an answer. The next day Kalkin (in Lucianne.com) posted the following article: "Moaning at Work Trauma - Office moaners could be suffering from a newly-identified mental illness, a study shows. Experts claim stress at work causes Post-Traumatic Embitterment Disorder (PTED)." The same day, chance33_98 (in FreeRepublic) posted several articles with "Cry" or "Crying" in the title, e.g. "Vermont's Deaf Community Crying Foul".

Some may be wondering, "Why keep going into FreeRepublic and other web sites where you're being harrassed?" I have in the past taken this "out of sight out of mind" approach, but incredibly, even the radio is being used to harrass me. Actually the radio was being used systematically in in the weeks following the inception of all this back in March of 2000, (after I had made all sorts of graphic threats in my own apartment). Every time I turned on the radio, there would be a P.S.A. warning that anybody in Dallas County using a gun in the comission of a crime would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. What has happened since moving into my Mom's house is the following: I will turn on the radio, (to the classic rock station primarily) and the first complete song played will be "Breakin' the Law" (Judas Priest) or the Styx song that goes "Oh, mama, I'm in fear for my life from the long arm of the law" or the Queen song that goes "Mama, I'm afraid to die..." It has happened over and over and over and over again. Admittedly it is very difficult if not impossible to prove all this, and this is of course what they rely on.

There is another way the radio is being used to harrass me. It defies all comprehension, and for that reason I had hesitiated to mention it at first, but here goes: A law enforcement agency is using some sort of voice synthesis technology to make radio personalities say things intended specifically for me. As far as the technique, I read about it only recently, but in hindsight it explains numerous bizarre radio events. (Please hang with me here.) For example back in March of 2000, when I figured everything out and started cursing and carrying on, one of the things I did was go get my gun from under the bed and place it on the coffee table in the living room in my apartment. (I don't know why I did it, it was just some sort of pathetic display of machismo or something.) Later on I turned on the radio to Rush Limbaugh, and in less than a minute, Rush makes the comment "Just because you put a gun on the coffee table doesn't mean you're going to use it." Another example: I mentioned previously how recently I ate a banana in the kitchen, and then went into FreeRepublic where the top article was "We're watching what you eat", and the next article was about bananas. That was late on a Saturday Night. On Monday at noon I turn on Rush and within 30 seconds he uses the word banana as an acronym, but the acronym is nonsensical and pointless. But its Rush's voice. It has happened with other radio personalities as well.

Even conversations I've had in friends' homes end up in articles posted on the internet. About a year ago, I rode my bike past the house of a friend of mine named Greg who I hadn't seen in years. As it turned out he was in his front yard, so I stayed for awhile. Inside his house, I told him about the turmoil I was facing from law enforcement for growing pot two and a half years previously. When I got home I went into FreeRepublic.Com and a brand new poster named "Greg99" was posting articles. The "99" was a reference to the type of marijuana I had grown, "Cinderella99". (I had not mentioned this detail to Greg, and he didn't have a computer anyway). I have subsequently spent time over at Greg's house, and each time there are always posts afterwards in FreeRepublic indicating they can hear me over there as well. Just from recent experience, I was over at Greg's where I was talking at length about the film Invasion of the Body Snatchers. The next day there is a brand new poster in FreeRepublic with the handle 'InvasionOfTheBodySnatchers'. On another occasion, Greg and I got into a discussion about insects, with me speculating they may not have any concious awareness at all. I then humorously made reference to a horse fly that I thought might have been demon-possessed. The next day I went into FreeRepublic, and someone had posted an article about NASA developing a robotic fly.

Most of the time however, it is chance33_98 indicating he can hear me when I'm at Greg's house. For example, less than a week ago, I was at Greg's and talking at some length about the fact that I needed an attorney to do a FOIA request of the government, but that I couldn't afford it and in any case it was probably pointless, as what was being done to me was probably quasi-military or classified. The next day I go into FreeRepublic and the most recently posted article by chance33_98 was the following: "ACLU represents local singer who was ticketed for calling the Castle Rock Police pigs". A week prior to that I was at Greg's where we got into a discussion about entertainment and the media where at one point I made some comments about Jewish and gay influence in the entertainment industry. It was stated in a matter-of-fact way, and had nothing to do with antisemitism or homophobia. Nevertheless Greg took mild offense, even though what I was saying was common knowledge. (It was fairly innocuous, along the lines of "What is the demographic profile of Hollywood?") Anyway, the point of this is the next morning I go into FreeRepublic and chance33_98 has posted the following: "Lesbian & Gay Journalists to Take Los Angeles". Then a few hours later he posts this: "Conspiracy Theories about Jews and 9/11 Cause Dangerous Mutations in Global Anti-Semitism". (The point of Greg's and my discussion was his obscure and implausible conspiracy theory involving the media, which incidentally had nothing to do with Jews.)

Equally frustrating is my inability to surf the web anonymously, thus rendering me incapable of doing confidential research on financially sensitive projects. I have made continual and herculean efforts to establish on-line anonymity. I have completely reformatted and reinstalled my system several times. I have used anonymous http proxies and socks proxies to access the web. I have set up unix shell accounts on other systems and routed all web traffic to my machine through them, encrypting the web content in transit using SSH (supposedly obscuring it even from my ISP.) I eventually switched from Windows to Linux, and set up firewalls, closing down and obscuring all ports, etc. I found out how to change the MAC address of my network interface card. However, even when using all of the above measures simultaneously, I continue to be taunted by individuals to let me know that they can track my every move on the web. Many of these individuals are the same ones who post articles to let me know they can see and hear in my home.

On one level, I guess I should be grateful that individuals are letting me know that my entire life - where I go, what I say, what I do, inside my own home, inside friends' homes, on the web, wherever - is a complete open book to them. I have made some attempt to contact them without success. One individual, (chance33_98 on FreeRepublic) did respond, "How's your Mom doing?" I must somehow live with the fact that, whether I'm being made aware of it explicitly or not, I'm being constantly observed.

Assuming some branch of law enforcement is doing this, WHY are they doing this? Because I grew pot in my apartment over three years ago? Because I cussed them out and made idle threats in my own home (after they said on their own bogus radio show they get a big laugh out of that sort of thing)? Or is it because they think I put a hex on them? Are they doing it under the pretext that my life is in danger? Are they trying to harass me into leaving town? If the cops are claiming my life is in danger, do I have a right to know who my life is in danger from? Am I supposed to slink out of town with my tail between my legs, because some local cops are completely out of control and will continue and make my life a living hell otherwise?

WHO is doing this, HOW are they doing it, and under what legal pretext? Was the whole drug pretext and the involvement of local cops a ruse? Is the federal government in fact using wildly sophisticated classified technology to monitor, under the pretext of national security, anyone who achieves a certain level of notoriety? Has at least some of the surveillance of me actually been done by foreign governments (e.g. England) who have access to America's most sophisticated surveillance technology under treaty, but none of the Constitutional restraints in using it against American citizens? The reason I mention this is that a large percentage of the harassing articles have been from British publications. Furthermore, in the midst of such harassing posts, someone posted an article in FreeRepublic that described the intelligence relationship the U.S. has with Britain, wherein the British government is given access to Echelon, etc. which they can use at will on U.S. citizens. (Was I being clued in to what was going on in my case?)

Or was the drug pretext NOT a ruse? In an effort to counter the impact of the internet, are the police utilizing sophisticated new surveillance technology from the military in a quasi-legal scheme to harass people into compliance with the law rather than arresting them? IOW, are they systematically monitoring without a warrant anyone who visits marijuana web sites repeatedly, singling certain people out for harassment and constant surveillance in their homes? Is the real ruse in these schemes the threat of actual arrest, since the evidence actually obtained was without a warrant (and in any case would require revealing in open court highly classified military technology being utilized by local police)? Was the complicating factor for the police in my case the fact that I had gained so much notoriety on the web, right in the middle of their operation against me?

Or is this what the government means by the "War on Terror"? If it is, I think the public has a right to know. Certainly they have a right to know, for example, if both the U.S. Government and our allies can see through walls using satellites, and listen in any American's home using Echelon. Certainly the public has a right to know that such surveillance capability is being used with impunity against Americans by the executive branch under arbitrary and blanket claims of national security, and by our foreign allies merely because they can. Certainly the public has a right to know that local police departments have been federalized to such an extent that classified military technology, purportedly reserved for America's enemies, is in fact now routinely deployed against American citizens.

Of course, there are many unanswered questions. First, the aformentioned individuals, i.e. chance33_98, etc. - are these individuals real, and completely innocent, but whose handles are being periodically used by some agency to send me harassing articles in spoofed versions of FreeRepublic, etc.? Certainly, there has to be some freelancers in on this operation as well: groupies and wanna-bes being exploited by the cops, or cops operating on their own time, with tacit approval and a wink from their superiors. Certainly some operatives are only keeping track of my comings and goings on the net and don't have access to surveillance data from inside my home - but several do.

Does anybody from Irving have information about who is doing this to me? If you do, and the government (local or otherwise) is behind it, and your information is verifiable, it seems it could be the basis for a major lawsuit, the proceeds of which I would be more than willing to share with anyone who assists me. Unfortunately, my suspicion is that it is a quasi-military, classified operation that is being perpetrated against me, and anybody revealing information about it would be subject to arrest and imprisonment by a secret court. Is there any possibility at all of a legal resolution to this problem? Is there an attorney out there who believes me and is willing to help?

Most of all, I would like to ask for your prayers. If you believe in God, please pray that the truth about what is being done to me and to others by the government be made manifest. Pray for our country. It seems evident to me that what Bush, Ashcroft and others really want to do is completely militarize law enforcement so that the government can listen and watch inside any person's home whenever they want. The "War on Terror" is a convenient vehicle for this. What is certain is that in the Administration's appeals for public acceptance of increased police powers and domestic military operations, no mention has been made of the classified, wildly sophisticated surveillance technology which is already in use. The existence of this technology would seem to demand a strong reaffirmation of the Bill of Rights, an assurance by the government to the American People that such technology will not be abused, a reassurance that we are secure in our homes as free Americans. But on the contrary, the Adminstration is concealing the existence of this technology from the public, and at the same time expanding a "War on Terror" against American citizens, thus giving the government the right to use this technology against Americans whenever it wants.

I don't know quite what to say. I must say that you had such a long, long, long post that I didn't read it all, therefore I am not sure I got the jist of what you are trying to say.

Yes, it's true, every type of law enforcement (from the local sheriff to the arm of the feds that has not been under control of this country for a long time, the CIA) will explore and attempt to use the latest and best technology they can to do what they perceive is 'a good job'.

That the wealthy and powerful don't give a damn about any individual's RIGHTS (except their own which they pay for), is true.

My only advice is that (regardless to your or my opinion of what should or should not be legal) doing multiple illegal things is not the best way to keep law enforcement of the gov't from wanting to snoop on you.

If I misunderstood your point here, just tell me.

Not to me, he's too lucid and coherent. The ideas are classic, "textbook" paranoid delusions, but they're not expressed like that.

There are indeed strange things happening on the boards, but I let most of them go over my head when I see them. I think maybe a few creeps have been playing head games with this guy, and once he's jumpy he starts tabulating every random coincidence as if it were something being "done" to him.
