It's midnight in California. I hope this is the last day for this thread.

Happy Halloween

Thank you lanie, you rock. Nite ops is pretty busy on the fire so it may be a day or two for them to get it all surrounded.

Happy Halloween! It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!

The Big Bear, Simi, Ventura, and scvradio scanner streams are all unavailable, as far as I know. I'll keep checking shoutcast now and then to see if anything new is up.

We're a homeschooling family and I've been a little neglectful in that regard this week, although it's kind of been a blessing in a way. I've kept up in the side projects (that I've previously put off), but another lesson's been learned -- I've gleaned a better insight into losing the mechanics of 'creating a schoolroom at home'. I have read that is, more often than not, the abandoned route taken by successful homeschoolers. So I've spent tonight getting caught up on housework & constructing a new game plan to get caught up with the three R's. I'll be back to fighting weight tomorrow. Hopefully in time to not be needed!

Sorry I've been out of the loop, what's going on..

I'm just getting in too, work had me away from scanners most of day or out of range. I was near the Claremont fire. One fireman at out firehouse lost his home on Palmer canyon.

5 points rings a bell.

Rosann Barr lives off Manitoba. big ranch estate. She cut down my buddy's trees when she moved in on the property line, he planted them when he was a kid and she whacked them. he was pissed.

Great job with all of these threads.

Well, the one good thing that has come out of this fire happened yesterday in the Senate. The Senate has voted out the lunatic Watermelon Jihadist forestry mismanagement and voted back in sanity.

Senate passed Healthy Forest Bill 1904

The Senate just voted on the Healthy Forest bill 1904, and passed it 80-14. Fire up the Chain saws let's get rid of some beetle trees! (It still has to go back to the house.)

To add to your post I heard on the radio today that the local request for more FEMA money made 6 months ago to remove the bettle dead trees was finally denied last week.

Perfect timing no?

Lanie- From your lips to God's ears...

I predicted 3000 houses would be lost, and I think I need to revise that upward. I think it will be closer to 4000.

I'm going to repost this from the end of yesterday's thread ;clarification on the retardent lawsuit as posted by the Mountain Democrat...

In Reply to: Lawsuit Against Retardant posted by Peter S on October 30, 2003 at 16:44:42:

Peter, that lawsuit was not filed by USFS employees. It was filed by FSEEE, formerly known as AFSEEE, the Associated Forest Service Employees for Environmental Ethics. A teensy tiny itsy bitsy percentage of their members are actually current/past/future USFS employees (though their current board is well loaded with USFS employees). If you want to know what USFS retired employees think about this, check out the press release from the National Association of Forest Service Retirees. They called it frivolous, irresponsible, and mischievous. Well put.

State firefighters rejected air drop request for Cedar Fire because of night regulations

I'm sure it's been discussed already but what do you guys think of this?
