SADDAM JUDGE MURDERED
The judge heading judicial committees to investigate former officials of Saddam Hussein's ousted regime in Najaf has been shot dead, it is reported.
Muhan Jabr al-Shuwaili, who chairs the Najaf Tribunal and the investigative committees, was kidnapped along with Najaf prosecutor General Aref Aziz, from the judge's house in the city on Monday, the AFP agency quoted Mr Aziz as saying.
The two were taken in cars to a desert area five miles from Baghdad and the judge executed, he said.
"One of the assailants said 'Saddam has ordered your prosecution.' Then they fired two shots into his head," Mr Aziz said.
"As for me, they told me 'this does not concern you'. They released me," he added.
The murder came as a member of a Baghdad neighborhood council sponsored by the Americans was killed in a drive-by shooting, the US-led coalition said Monday.
The shooting was the third assassination of a pro-US Iraqi political figure in the past eight days.
Baghdad's deputy mayor, Faris Abdul Razzaq al-Assam, was gunned down on October 26 near his home in the capital.
There have been several prominant killings since the end of the war.
On August 29, prominent Shiite spiritual and political leader Ayatollah Mohammed Baqer al-Hakim was killed in a car bombing in Najaf along with 82 others.
And Akila al-Hashimi, a member of Iraq's Governing Council, was also gunned down by assailants near her Baghdad home on September 20.

I wonder how much money they paid him for his selling the Judge out.
I'd say judges like this guy need some serious security protection. They are going to be targets of Saddam's murderers.
