Politicized Memo Creates Row

A barely contained partisan squabble over assessing blame for the apparent failure to find chemical and biological weapons in Iraq broke into the open yesterday when Republican senators said they had a memorandum indicating their Democratic colleagues were preparing a campaign to disparage a Senate committee report on the quality of prewar intelligence before it is even completed.

A senior Democrat countered that Republicans had probably stolen the memo from a trash can or a computer file.

Rangel is now calling for rumsfeld to resign. Now discovered and exposed, the democrats launch their version of shock and awe. (aka whine and cry)

You know, if not for talk radio, internet, and FNC there may soon have been only one party.

Imagine having 95% control of all newspaper, television, and periodical media (before talk radio began). Imagine further that the same group that had this control also had control of both houses of Congress for 50 years.

Does the break on control of congress coincide adequately with the break of control of media to conclude a causal relationship? Can it be said that dems rules only when they ruled the media?

I agree. This is not only a "leak," in fact, but a leak of a plot that is certainly unworthy of any elected official, and should be grounds for resignation or even removal.

Who wrote the memo, was it a draft or final, who received the memo, and how was the memo obtained. Also, who is being more political, the writer of the memo - or those using it now to bash their opposition?

Saxby Chambliss yesterday on Hannity's radio show, Named Daschle as the probable originator of the memo.

The Niger/Wilson/Plame confession in the memo hasn't yet been fully grasped...or has it?

A plot has been discovered that the Senate Intelligence Committee minority party is focusing more on taking down the president than our national security, and you are asking who is being more political - the writer of the memo or those in the majority party who are upset by the plot.

I do not understand the difficulty you are having in deciding who is being more political.

we need to find a dem on the intelligence committee and make him resign the committee if not resign the senate. This will make dashel a further joke and diminish the unitity of the minority party.

This bunch has been after "Rummy" from the "git go".

Hillary's generals were all over the tube crying about how bad the war was going and trashing "Rummy".

This bunch has yet to blame Saddam, terrorists, or the killers for our loved ones getting blown up, that is very telling.

So WHY, ok so they do want their power back, that is a given, but the complaint within the "memo" and everytime this bunch whines it is always about the "secret" White House. So if the White House is keeping secrets from them maybe they have something to "FEAR". The US against them maybe be a whole lot bigger than France, Germany, Russia and the terrorists.

Good morning, OldFriend. It is breathtaking, isn't it? And I don't think the story has been reported AT ALL on any of the other network channels.

We're headed out for nearly 2 weeks tomorrow and I'm crushed I'll be missing out on the various aspects of this story. Timing is everything...

I also think that someone else wrote "old Kennedy's" speech, it has an "itch" tone to it. Seems like quite a price was required for that convention in Boston for next summer.

According to the dems, the real issue is how the republicans got the memo.

Let us not forget that Zell Miller was also on this morning. He pretty much declared the Senate Rates to but treasonous for political gain.

Yes, this is certainly much more serious than a "partisan squabble." I know the Dems would like to reduce it to this, but I bet that privately, some of them (including certain Senators) are really sweating right now. I hope the Republicans can keep the media from minimizing or burying this.

And I say this not only for "partisan" reasons, but because I think this really compromises US security and calls into question the handling of the intelligence we so desperately need right now.

The dem world view must be based on containment and perpetual conflict to keep in power (ala 1984). It is never based on victory. (see Jimmy carter and his failure in the cold war.) The democrat party is exposed as a "controversy" party not a solution party. The democrat party IS part of the world's problem.

Additionally, on the world stage the democrat party is trying to convice international leaders that they matter. Hard to get illegal campaign contributions if the chineese believe you have no power. The rest on the socialists in teh world realize the danger their alies are in in the usa (remember nancy pelosi is an admitted socialist) they will help any way they can.

This is serious, and the republicans better act on this.
I just want to scream "DO SOMETHING, ACT!" no more "get along, move on" barbara streisand.
