And the RAT Running Mate in 2004 Will Be...
Vanity
Posted on 11/06/2003 12:59:37 PM PST by Paladin2b
I wondered if there was any interest in starting a thread that discusses who the 2004 Democrat Vice Presidential nominee will be, and possibly get some names out that aren't as talked about as one of the Nine Dwarves that might get it as a booby prize. Getting names out there that will help us prepare to get out there loaded for bear next year.
My suspicion is that rather than look to Graham, or Edwards, or Clark, the RATs may pick a dark horse. I'd like to see if anyone thinks I'm crazy to think that it might be Governor Mark Warner of Virginia, and in anycase it might get the ball rolling for a good discussion.

Ed Rendell or Evan Bayh.

On the serious side, anybody paired with Zell Miller is going to be a contender.

Well, the options are quite varied, considering the candidate will want to "balance" the ticket either geographically or ideologically. One name that has remained under the radar for some time now is Evan Bayh. He has ambition, and I wonder if he's biding his time until '08. A VP nod would give him some exposure.
Feinstein is a logical choice for several candidates, and the VP slot may be why she didn't jump into the California fray.

Mosley-Braun. . . Why else do you think she is running for Prez? It's only to raise her profile prior to the convention next summer. Black and female, she's the dem's dream VP candidate.
To: Paladin2b
Since the nominee won't be from the south its got to be either Edwards or Graham.

If I were the Democratic nominee, John Breaux and Evan Bayh would be on my short list.

On the serious side, anybody paired with Zell Miller is going to be a contender. LOL, like any of the Dem canidates would even consider it. Miller doesn't have many Dem friends these days, and definitely none of the presidential candidates.
To: Paladin2b
Evan Bayh makes the most sense. Graham looks good for contesting FL. Zel Miller will not run. Di Fi will not add anything to the ticket (they already have CA. The woman thing already done and failed)

That is what I read on another site. They think it has to be someone from the south -like that would help!

Either Osama Bin Laden or Saddam. My bet is on Saddam. Picking him would constantly remind Americans we haven't won the war. /sarcasm

They think it has to be someone from the south -like that would help! They are stuck. In 2000 the entire ticket was from the south and neither carried his state.

If I had to bet, I'd place a small one on Dean/Clark.
Or here's one, especially if the Dems are in a vengeful mood: Max Cleland, the ex-senator from Georgia. Triple-amputee from his service in Vietnam and the Dems are still seething about his defeat last year.

Warner? Are you kidding me? He's barely competent enough to be a governor.

Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstein, Zoe Lofgran (sp?), other lady politicians. It is going to be a woman. Carol Mosley Braun is probably another choice.
