Alterman is one of my favorite members of the tin foil hat brigade.
Always drumming the beat to let everyone know about the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy. Straw man and slippery slope arguments galore folks.

perhaps the worst offender in recent years is Mel Gibson. Even before the current controversy about his strange interpretation of the life of Jesus, his 2000 film, The Patriot, managed to come up with a version of the American Revolution in which the Americans, not the British, freed the slaves.A shocking revelation indeed, to all of us who'd always assumed it was those who selfishly fought and died on behalf of the Union who did, in fact, "free the slaves."
Is this whackjob for real...? :)

Who on EARTH gave this idiot a PhD? Nonetheless, it was my pleasure to read his whining crying fits post election 2000. It was my shame to see him write so visciously, almost immediately, post 911. This ladies and gentlmen is the sharp side of the Press Freedom Sword: angry, juvenile, whiny liberals have just as much right to spout off as anyone else. I just wonder how many take him seriously, and how many think him a prose version of Doonesbury?

Yet according to the authorized biography, "Dutch" by Edmund Morris, what Reagan really said was "maybe the Lord brought down this plague" because "illicit sex is against the Ten Commandments." Oh this lie is repeated again. Just because that quote is in Morris's biography doesn't mean he actually said it. Morris used fictious people and fictious conversation to tell a story. About the stupidest thing a 'biographer' could do. No one knows what is historical fact and what is Morris making up. To state that Reagan said that as a fact is a lie.

I know there is only one way to fight such fire. Bring it on, girly-man.
We protect our best. Our best won the Cold War. Your best got blowjobs in the Oval Office while foreign leaders waited for him to get off. Try protecting that.

In any case, it is hardly insignificant that President Reagan did not manage to utter the word AIDS in public until 1987. In doing so, he offered us all a lesson about how silence can sometimes speak more loudly than words. This in a nutshell is why the Left is so furious that CBS pulled the Reagan miniseries. The screenplay was written by two industry insiders who are also prominent gay activists. That's why a fabricated hostility of Reagan to homosexuals was foregrounded in the series.
But now that's been put aside and so the collective hissy fit, because no one is ever, EVER supposed to interfere with the "gay agenda"!

"The far-right food chain that chewed up and spit out The Reagans was composed of Michael Reagan, Matt Drudge, Sean Hannity, Bill O Reilly, Joe Scarborough, and Brent Bozells Media Research Center..."That's it? No one from ABC, CBS, NBC, NPR, or the New York Times? No one from the LA Times, USA Today, Newsweek, Time, AOL, the San Francisco Chronicle, or the Washington Post? Not Dr. Laura? Not even Rush Limbaugh?
Goodness, those mean old right wingers sure do have a monopoly on the media!

It is truly inspiring to hear Eric Alterman babbling this BS as he goes down in flames.
Face it Eric, your side is destined for the ashbin of history - very quickly.

Knowing no boundaries of taste or fair play How hypocritical of PhD Alterman to make an accusation like this considering there was no expression of sympathy whatsoever in his rant for Reagan's condition and his family's feelings at what has to be an agonizing time for them.

Hey, I didn't get my VRWC membership card this year. Who do I contact to get another one sent out? I need that card if I'm going to get discounts at major hotel chains and car rental places, right?
