Senior Senate Republicans said yesterday that unless Democrats disavow a plot to use the traditionally nonpartisan intelligence committee to wage political attacks on the Bush administration, they would consider taking away Democrats' power-sharing privileges.

Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, said that if Democrats expect cooperation from the White House in the investigation of intelligence failures that preceded the war in Iraq, "they've got to stop the politics."

I think Senator Roberts has had the blindfold pulled from his eyes. He is a good man with too much trust in his fellow man. He needs to learn that rats and men are different species and I think he has.

Tell them to bring to the floor all of President Bush's "judges" and they can see the "INTEL".

"The approach outlined above seems to offer the best prospect for exposing the administration's dubious motives."

This certainly seems like sedition and treason to me. How much will it take for "Republicans" to get a clue?

they would consider taking away Democrats' power-sharing privileges.

D'OH!
How much more clearly does it have to be demonstrated that a good portion of the enemy is internal?
Lip service to the safety of our troops, while undermining security and clearly demonstrating a disregard for national safety.

I'm sure there must be a purpose behind it, but I sure can't see it, nor do I care.
These rats must be expelled post haste.

Power sharing? More like a death wish, clearly.

Democrats also want to know where the memo came from and have called for an investigation into how the document was leaked to the press. Mr. Rockefeller, however, was less enthusiastic about such a move.

"I'm not there yet," he said. "It might come to that.

That's RAT-speak for "lets wait and see if Big Media can help make this blow over"

1994...that's the time when politics as usual took a steep dive into the murky depths of hyper-partisanship. Lead by democrats as a reaction to loosing the U.S. House of Reps., the "Jack-Ass" party has felt not only justified but sanctified in trashing the rule book in favor of a scorched earth policy.

They are both infuriating and disgusting in their willingness to sacrifice meaningful progress for our economy, society, and national security...if such progress carries the cost of acknowledging the legitimacy of republican lead initiatives.

They are acting like a bunch of spoiled, pampered, self-indulgent prepubescent children compelled by their hyper-emotionalism, who recognize no greater objective than their own selfish need to be the center of the universe.

In many ways the relationship between repubs and dems is that of the patient wise experienced adult dealing with a self-centered self-destructive juvenile deliquent.

Don't give them their way...and they burn down the house.

Spineless

I agree......everytime a GOP Senator is on either the radio or TV they PRAISE the Democrats on the Intelligence committee and seems to be BEGGING them to offer up a scapegoat (staffer) to fire so "WE CAN ALL JUST GET ALONG AGAIN".....I have nothing but contempt for the Dims who could care less about our WAR effort or the lives of our troops in IRAQ and ANGER for the GOP for allowing them to get by with it.

Yeah, it's the GOPs problem. Instead of punishing these traitors, they whine to the press and make empty threats.

No, wait, it's my problem - these spineless morons are supposed to advance the conservative agenda.

I just sent the following FAX to Rockefeller (and thanks to Publius6961)

Dear Senator Rockefeller,

I am very disappointed with your lackadaisical attitude toward the partisan Memo that was apparently leaked from the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. As Vice-Chairman, you sir should be outraged at the obvious attempt to destroy, for political gain, the bi-partisan relationships so essential to the proper functioning of that most important committee.

We are at war, sir, and paying lip service to the safety of our troops while undermining security clearly demonstrates a blatant disregard for national safety. I agree with Senator Zell Miller. If this action isn?t treason, it surely is treason?s first cousin. And it needs to be dealt with NOW.

It is clear that either you, one of your Democrat colleagues, or your staff was responsible for this outrage and you should insist that whoever it was be fired - immediately. If it was a Senator, he should be removed from the committee before he does further damage.

Stand up and be counted, Senator, and do your duty.
