A 38-year-old Aliquippa man infected with hepatitis A died last night at UPMC Presbyterian -- the first fatality stemming from an outbreak that has been traced to a Beaver County restaurant. The death came as the number of reported cases rose to 185, and state officials worked to prevent those who have been sickened from inadvertently causing future outbreaks.

Confirmed cases include customers and employees of Chi-Chi's at Beaver Valley Mall in Monaca, Beaver County. Anyone who was at the restaurant between Oct. 22 and Nov. 2 is encouraged to get a medical evaluation, and possibly a shot for hepatitis A.

It would be helpful if you'd add what state this is, instead of our having to look it up.
Thanks.

Just suspecting this since this is a Mexican restaurant,
but research needs to be done on how many ILLEGAL ALIENS
work here from Mexico or somewhere south of the border
and the lack of good hygience practices they bring with
them from south of the border.

It's a good bet that it will be found to be passed by an ILLEGAL OR GAY! We'll hear more about it if it is discovered to be a Mexican than a Gay.. developing

Hep A is transmitted by fecal matter in the food. I'm wondering if some smart a$$ punk did this on purpose. Alot of people don't have scruples anymore.

Luby's has given me food poisoning twice. Yes, I was dumb enough to go back months later. When I have mentioned this I have had horror stories related of the lack of hygine witnessed there.
Evidently I am not the only one to stop eating there.

I guess that really wasn't refried beans.

Well, hey, while we're talking about disgusting restaurants...
The Chinese restrauant near my house is in a strip mall with a drug store next door. So I was walking past it on my way into the drug store, and a young Chinese woman had her baby sprawled out on one of the dining tables ... changing his diaper!
I will SO never go there again.

eeeeeeEEEEEKKKkkkk, euwwww. I can top that though. One of our oriental customers evidently could not get use to American toiletts, so he would do his business on the floor next to the commode. Eventually we caught him and rubbed his nose in it while swatting him with a newspaper.

I live in Aliquippa and am amazed this hasn't gone national.
The lawyers are having a fit because the parent company of Chi-Chi's is in bankruptcy. Now that's news!

Anyone who hasn't had this disease doesn't understand how debilatating it can be. It put me in the hospital twice and I was HEALTHY AS A HORSE. I went from splitting wood every evening to being winded going to take a leak. Lost about 25 pounds most of it muscle. Skin flaking off, urine looked like Coca-Cola, feces were white. It was wretched. I still have not completely recovered. All because a low-life can't wash his hands after takng a dump!

Wow, I'm glad I got vaccinated years ago for Hep A and B. Actually, I used to work in vaccine manufacturing at a drug company and you had to be vaccinated so you would not get infected by the components to the vaccine. After reading your account, I'm glad I'm protected!
To: Panzerfaust
As I understand it, Hep A vaccines last only one year...

I had hepatitis when I was 12. It's not fun. One week in the hospital and 6 weeks strict bed-rest.
