Read "Casino" or any number of other books about the Chicago Mob. Many of them lived in River Forest. The boys went to Fenwick, an all-boys Catholic school. The girls went to the public high school. The drivers of the (non-rental) limos lined up on prom night were an impressive display of Mob muscle.

"from the wilderness" publications is a pro-Iraq "progressive" aka communist org, though I'm more familiar with Voices in the Wilderness. They may be one and the same- it's been a long time since I dug around on info on the names. Voices operated as a front group for Iraq to eliminate sanctions against Iraq. I wonder if "from the wilderness" is the same group.
Voices in the Wilderness broke sanctions law on occasion, much as did the organization the French Catholic priest Father Benjamin had going in the Vatican did. Voices is the group to which Dr. Meryl Nass belonged, and Meryl for those who have been following the anthrax investigation is the pal of Rosenberg, the gal who accused Hatfill. It was mostly Meryl Nass's report on anthrax in Rhodesia that inspires Rosenberg to accuse Hatfill. The report wasn't published in a medical journal- it was published in Red Flags Weekly, a Cuba-loving web publication if there ever was one. Meryl has connections to Cuba, claims she went there to study eye disease in Cuba.
