[history]
A leaked memo from the office of West Virginia Sen. Jay Rockefeller urges fellow Democrats on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence to use its probe into Iraq war planning as a staging ground to beat President Bush. It calls for an independent investigation of the president next year, timed for maximum negative impact on Mr. Bush's re-election effort.

The dangerous fall-out from this memo is that no one, including our allies, will ever believe anything coming out of this committee again.
Rockefeller must be forced to resign, the committee must be vacuumed, Lysoled and re-organized with a majority of pro-American members who put national security above party affiliation.

The most dangerous part of this memo is how much information has the enemy garnered from stuff like this and like "Leaky" Leahy how much have they been given intentionally.

You know how the dems always refer to articles in the NYTimes while on the senate floor, and then enter them into the record? How do we get all these articles on memogate to Roberts so these articles can be entered into the senate record? Any suggestions?

Here is my response to
post #234on a previous thread:
My comment is this. Perhaps Sen. Hatch sees a new Vice Chairman (woman) that would replace Rockefeller as one Hillary Clintoon. I can understand his reluctance to pursue that as the end result... Am I off base with this thinking? k2afe Your comment set off all kinds of bells and whistles in my head!
We've all suspected Hillary! is behind this memo. How about this scenario:
Hillary! devises the plan to use the Intelligence Committee for opposition research to use against the President and the Republicans. She convinces Rockafeller that the only way they can take the WH is to stir up enough dust about our reasons for going to war. A memo is produced outlining their stategy and distributed to the democrat members of the committee.
Hannity has said that we'd "be surprised" who leaked the memo to him. Suppose it came from Hillary!'s office as a means of getting rid of Rockafeller so she can become vice-chair of the committee? Would it be the first time a Clinton double crossed one of their own to gain more power?
</idle speculation>
Does this sound plausible?

IMHO, the memo did nothing more than reveal politics taht always lies under the surface. The stupid thing was writing it down and even stupider was ever letting it see the light of day.
Rockefeller's non-repudiation is despicable as well.

I don't doubt for one moment that Hillary is behind the democrat strategy; however, I doubt seriously her office leaked this memo; even if it would be to unseat Rocky and put her on the intel committee. Given what has happned with this committe, its bi-partisan nature is done and gone. It will have to be reconfigured with a chairman and a ranking member, pulling the power sharing away from the minority. Its the only way to proceed at this time....however, I do believe that NO intelligence information should be provided to this committee again, except for perhaps threat briefings, or whatever it is they get now and again.

"Rockefeller must be forced to resign," Absolutely!
The party line is 'no big deal here, just a little memo from a low level clerk, nothing here, more on'.
I believe this memo was given to all the demorats on the committee.
And it is their policy.......given from the very top of the party.

I have yet to see a single word about this memo in the Charlotte Observer. If it was there and I overlooked it I hope some NC Freeper will correct me, but I don't think they have mentioned it at all.

It hasn't been in my paper yet either, but I sent a copy of the memo to the news room and requested they print it in its entirety so their readers could read for themselves what the democrats are strategizing. We'll see if they do. I expect this story to pick up some more next week. As someone said on another threat -- someone is going to get bit by this; and it won't be a republican!

than reveal politics taht always lies under the surface Politics under the surface, yes. But who cares where it is, over or under. Anything worse that politics is against the one's oath. The distinction between political procedure and the veracity of law has nothing to do where politics takes place.

lol. She and her consort are two of the most devious creatures on the planet. Of course this could be plausible. Politics is just a game to her. The game is titled, "Me." How funny we are to be thinking of such incredible machinations! And the number of FBI files that were taken numbered over 2000, if I remember correctly. At least, that was the last report during the 90's scandals.

When are we going to stop coddling the demorats.
To them politics along with complete and total control (totalitarianism) come first, all else is second, third or forth.
To: Laverne
I hope that, in addition to ranting among ourselves, everyone has written to Sen. Roberts, Sen. Hatch, and other senators who can influence this process, to express their outrage and make their demands for Sen. Rockefeller's removal from this committee! I have.

I have a devious mind sometimes, but, unlike Hillary!, I'm not dangerous.

Miss Hitlery has the FBI files of how many of these Democrats? My guess is probably all of them as well as most (if not all) of the Republicans too.
To: Laverne
As far as I am concerned, the lack of leadership from the top, is what is allowing the Democrats to go so far as to criticize the policy. The war on terrorism is bombing, and for the same reasons the Vietnam war was lost. It is being fought with limited rules of engagement, and ignores the fact that the enemy must be crushed, before he can change. The war should be carried into the Saudi camp, onward to Syria and Iran. This is the home base of the enemy, where the generals are hiding, and the funding comes from. It would be like fighting WW II, and stopping at the French border.

VERY interesting theory, Misty. THanks, Laz. I think as more evidence comes out, Mrs. Clinton's fingerprints will be unmistakeable.
To: Laverne
Right - no Commander-in-Chief should be placed in position of having to provide classified information to an non-secure committee which - if leaked - would imperial the war effort, our soldiers and our allies as well as all our intelligence contacts.
This little committee is just over, burned and toasted.

I'm still somewhat amazed that this story is being spiked by the alphabets! I just sent an email to ABC and asked them why they aren't reporting it. I suggest they must be waiting to get their talking points from Terry M before they dare talk about it. It will be interesting to see how they do address it, when they address it, which they will have to do. Its getting legs, and they cannot continue to ignore it.

Thanks! I think that's an important piece of the puzzle.
Has Hillary! made any statement about the memo? Her silence may speak volumes.
To: Misty Memory
Plausible? Yes.
She would try to use the solar flares to her advantage if she could think of a way.
To: Tired_of_the_Lies
I watched a second of the CNN interaction between the heads of the RNC and DNC; the only part I saw in discussion of this memo, was Terry M changing the subject to the leaking of the CIA agent (if she really was one), Wilson's wife. Did anyone catch any of the discussion on the memo?

If this is the newspaper I think it is, it's owned by Richard Mellon Scaife and is notably conservative. The mainstream press has resolutely avoided reporting on this except for brief articles saying that the Dems and Republicans are "quarreling" about something or other.
It's been a long time since we've had a free press in this country. Even with Pravda you could read between the lines; but with these left-wing liars the news is suppressed entirely unless it favors their agenda.

I don't think there is anything Hillary won't do to gain power for herself. I know that she has been behind all of the bashing of Bush from the beginning. Very interesting concept you posted, and it is plausible to me.

I haven't seen it anywhere, except on Fox, and they aren't doing as much on it as they should be, imho. I have emailed the alphabets and asked them to report the story....of course, they will ignore my request, but it doesn't hurt to ask. As I mentioned above, and I think on the Sunday Talk Show thread, it was discussed on CNN, a little bit, but I only caught a second so I'm not sure what was said.

Replying to your # 6.....don't sweat the smaller stuff. You can be sure Sen. Robert's staff is keeping him up on all the articles and info being published.
Our job is to keep hammering away with the phone calls, emails and faxes to the pols and the media.
I also send emails to my extensive personal list of non-freepers. I provide a link on the email to any current (and sticking-to-the-subject threads!) I see posted on our forum that provides information and activism tips.
This is our role as I see it, and the best use of our time. We have to get the uninformed informed, not preach to the choir all the time. This means a lot of time at the computer right now, but let your fingers do the talking, LOL.
