McAuliffe: Bush Dodged Nat'l Guard Service

Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe complained on Sunday that President Bush shouldn't have worn a flightsuit on the deck of the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln earlier this year because of allegations he didn't fulfill a commitment to serve in the Alabama National Guard 30-years ago.

Complaining about the president's May 1 appearance on the Lincoln's flight deck, McAuliffe told CNN's "Late Edition" that Bush "didn't wear [a flightsuit] when he should have worn one when he was supposedly in the Alabama National Guard."

The insinuation that Bush dodged military service stunned fellow "Late Edition" guest, Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie, who shook his head in disgust as McAulliffe recycled the discredited charge.

The president did fly high performance aircraft during a stint in the Texas Air National Guard in the 1970's, a fact McAuliffe omitted from his diatribe.

The DNC chief delivered the low blow while complaining that Bush had prematurely declared major combat operations over during his Lincoln speech, while speaking beneath a sign that read "Mission Accomplished."

Revisiting the controversy, McAuliffe told CNN, "What the president was saying when he was strutting around on that aircraft carrier wearing a flight suit - which I remind you, he didn't wear when he should have worn one when he was supposedly in the Alabama National Guard - but clearly what came out of that was, he was saying that our job had been completed [and] major combat operations were over."

When the New York Times examined Democrat accusations that Bush hadn't fulfilled his full Alabama National Guard commitment during to 2000 election campaign, it turned up no evidence he had dodged serving.

"Uh-huh. In what branch did McAuliffe serve?

McAuliffe served with distinction in the Sucker Corps, on his knees before the sinkmiester, his President.......

His service earned him the "golden bib" with 4 oak leaf clusters and a free dry cleaning coupon.

Sick ......the Rats are absolutely obsessed with this "flight suit" thing.

I thought the charge was going to be that the Republicans would make this a campaign issue! *chortling*

No, it doesn't mean that Bush couldn't fly, only that he couldn't fly anymore with the Alabama National Guard (say, due to his transfer and new geographical location).

"Maybe it's time to get some info on McAuliffe."

Sounds like a plan!

I seem to remember seeing draft dodging, war protesting, never served a second in the Military, Clinton, appearing in numerous photo-op pictures, clad in a Flight Jacket and unit caps, while visiting Military bases and ships.

Are you sure you want to open up this particular can of worms, Mr. McCauliffizzle?

I for one would like this story either confirmed which I don't believe for a second or soundly denied so I don't have to hear every half-baked dim whine about it.

I had to explain to my Doctor about Bush's education. She said something about him being dumb and I asked if dumb people had MBA's from Harvard and flew fighter planes. She couldn't believe it so I'm bringing in a bio I found of him for her enjoyment. She also mentioned the AWOL B.S. It seems to me, if it were true, it would have come out the day the DUI charge miraculously appeared.

Naw, McAuliffe is hanging the whole Democratic Party. Why demand that your losing opponent switch jockeys in the middle of your race?!

I mean really, rehashing tall tales that didn't even work back in 2000?! That's the best that the Dems have got?!

Hilarious!

Every time I see Bush in the flightsuit, I feel sorry for the Plane Captain of the S-3A Viking selected for Bush's flight out to the carrier. Under the best of circumstances, these folks are under tremendous pressure to keep these aging birds flying. Can you imagine the pressure on some 20-22 year old kid being tasked with insuring that Bush's bird was ready for flight. I'll bet that no avionics, mechanics, electrician, hydralics or engine man slept for days before that flight took place.

How did little 'punk' (as Rush called him) Terry come by his millions again during the Xlintoon administration again?

Global Friggin Crossing! Then he paid for the Chappaqua mansion, didn't he.

Thank you, Miss Marple. Now if I could only recall the name of that video about Bill Clinton's crimes - it has a great photo of him with long, dirty hair and a scraggly hippy beard. I'd love to see these two photos side-by-side, to make the contrast between these two men and show how they came from two very different backgrounds of lifestyle and thought. It would make the Terry McAulifs of the world think twice about shooting off their big mouths. Thanks again.

Jim

Do you have access to those Pictures of Clinton in Flight Jacket and unit caps, you can post side by side with Bush.
That should give McCauliffizzle and the Democraps, lockjaw.
