US halts operations at Sudan embassy due to 'specific' threat
Australian Broadcasting Company ^ | November 10 2003

The US embassy in Khartoum has announced it will suspend operations for a week from November 12 due to a "specific" threat against American interests in the Sudanese capital.

"The US embassy will suspend normal operations as of November 12," the embassy said in a statement, noting it would also be closed on November 11 for the Veterans' Day holiday in the United States.

"This action is the result of a credible and specific threat to US interests in Khartoum."

No, no. I kid. Seriously:

Ja'far Abbas, a Sudanese columnist living abroad, expounded further on the matter in two articles, one in the Saudi daily Al-Watan and the other in Al-Rai Al-A'am. In his Al-Watan article, Abbas wrote: "Even though what I write today will harm 'tourism' in Sudan, I consider it my duty to warn anyone who wants to come to Sudan to refrain from shaking hands with a dark-skinned man. Since most Sudanese are dark-skinned, he had better avoid shaking hands with anyone he doesn't know…"

Focusing on the report of the Sudanese man who lost his penis after contact with a comb, Abbas wrote: "No doubt, this comb was a laser-controlled surgical robot that penetrates the skull [and passes] to the lower body and emasculates a man!!

"I wanted to tell that man who fell victim to the electronic comb: 'You jackass, how can you put a comb from a man you don't know to your head, while even relatives avoid using the same comb?!'"

Those whacky Sudenese!!!

Not that it's a bad thing we halt embassy operations in that sewer - which send more of it's scum from the bottom of that sewer daily, thanks to Clinton - but if they believe the threat is cridable, it probably is. We need to start rethinking embassy organization, starting with Cold War, Hostile Territory-style before pulling all of our people. The UN is expected to run. The US isn't. Unless we're finally gonna see some decisive military action after we get Iraq straightened out.

"Who is the question...?"

Either someone we got in Iraq or that the Saudis caught and are...uh...squeezing. The royal family is finally beginning to believe some bigger, badder Wahhabists want their cushy "jobs". 'Bout time.

The real story here is we must really have some great intel...

Worth saying again--our intel nailed this threat with dead reckoning. Godspeed with our safety forward.

Big oil companines back the muslims in the north against the Christians in the rich oil region of the south

The oil people would rather keep the muslims in power and ignore their murdering raping and torturing of children as to them this is safer for their oil production than arming Christians and having "equally armed" enemies in a civil war

Better to keep the Christians unarmed and unable to protect themselves..sacrifice a few of them here and there and at least the equipment and pipelines are safe...besides since Christians dont engage in terrorism anyway it makes more sense to mollify the ones that do-
the muslims-

Of course the decent thing to do would be to arm the Christians and kill of the terrorists...but then that would make muslims in the other oil areas these same companies have holdings a bit bitter and angry there...and they might take action against the oil production in other muslim dominated states

Ya gotta have priorities

Heck we still back the Saudis...so much so our state dept is starting to sound more like CAIR
with every increasingly ludicrous PR announcement-go figure
imo

Seriously, you have to wonder why we have embassies in some of the countries that we do. Those wacky Palestinians blew-up a convoy of Americans trying to give them scholarships. I understand the point of having the world's best and brightest studying in the US and bringing that knowledge back but If some of those countries don't want our help. Egypt takes $2 billion of our tax dollars to spew hatred and lies about us. The whole State Dept has got to be overhauled.

I'm starting to believe that Al-Queda can only be effective with a 'home-court advantage'.

Worth saying again--our intel nailed this threat with dead reckoning. Godspeed with our safety forward.

It's refreshing to see more posters noticing what I have noticed for some time now.

Dubya' has taken the fight to their home turf, with a lot of the reason for it due to the "Homeland Security Act".
