The boy's father, I presume? Why wasn't that mentioned in the story?

The amber alert system should not be used for custody disputes.

the boy was removed from his Mother's home by force. Threats were made and the child is considered to be in extreme danger. I guess they think this info over-rules the fact that this was his father. I don't presume to be able to speak for the system though.
I do believe the "Amber Alert" system is a good system that has helped to find many children who were in danger.

I agree with you, but if this is his father, that should have been in the story. It would help people who know the father to help locate the man.
OTOH, this could be a simple custody dispute, with the mother exaggerating the situation in her report to the police. That often happens as well.
Nevertheless, I hope the child is found quickly.

It should be in the cases where the child is endangered by being abducted by the father. That appears to be the case here, although these things are sometimes exaggerated by the mother.

At least these alerts may help the child to be found, and then both sides of the story can be heard.

Police have issued an Amber Alert after they say a man entered his estranged wife's home in Grand Prairie and took his son by force using a stun gun.
Charles Leon Wood, 37, used the stun gun against the boy's mother in the 500 block of Luscino, police say. He is wearing a light gray sweat shirt.
The missing boy is 7-month-old Braeden Thomas Wood, who was last seen wearing a blue, long sleeve jumper with a teddy bear emblem.
The suspect may be driving a brown sport utility vehicle, possibly a tan Ford Explorer or Lincoln Navigator. A license plate is currently unavailable.
Police say the suspect has vowed not to be taken alive and may have made threats to kill his wife and himself.
Anyone with information is urged to immediately contact police.
The father used a stun gun on mom. I'd say an Amber Alert is definitely in order for THIS custody dispute.

The amber alert system should not be used for custody disputes. It's for missing children, Braeden is missing, the reason does not matter.

The Amber Alert is for missing children, ALL MISSING CHILDREN! OK. Even for a mere custody dispute where the child is not actually at risk of harm? How many hundreds of cases like this are there every day? If that becomes the norm, then the system loses its usefulness. People will ignore it just like they ignore milk cartons.

OK... the stun gun changes the equation. In cases where the child is taken by assault-level force and appears to be at risk of harm... then I would agree that it wouldn't matter if it is a parent.
