At least I don't have to be such a limp wrist I have to solely rely on grammar to take a stand.

Only the ignorant think illiteracy is a sign of manhood, but I would expect that from a Moore supporter

And I've always taken a stand-against Moore's publicity stunt.

Pryor is one of the four judges for which the Senate is having their talkathon.

Exactly... which is why I called him "Judge". Wishful thinking.. heh

Claims to have a big anouncement next month. Probably running for Senate. I'd rather have Hillary.

Can you see Moore as a Senate backbencher, taking orders from Bill Frist?

I'm still trying to figure out what happened to the original intent of the "Congress shall make no law" clause: Roughly TEN of the 13 original states had an established STATE RELIGION, including Jefferson's Virginia, BTW. The last such was disbanded (officially) by Massachusetts (1820's? maybe as late as 1841 if memory serves).

Moore was arguing that this was a state right, and that he disobeyed a Federal Order due to jurisdictional questions. Nobody has really been talking about that point. This is no so much about the First Amendment as it is about the Ninth and Tenth Amendments.

Will Judge Moore and Paris Hilton appear on the same talk show on the same day? (Or star in the same movie?)

Wocka-wocka.

If this had been a liberal judge they would not have touched him with a ten foot pole.

I think you're right on target. You'd be surprised at the number of Ten Commandment signs that have popped up in yards all over Alabama in recent weeks. IMHO, he ignored the rule of law and deserves removal; however, the Ten Commandments are quite popular in my neck of the woods.

My guess is that he will get less votes in the next election. He was already getting all the religious right's vote, and a lot of other conservatives who hadn't had a chance to find out he was nuts.
This time around he won't get any votes except the hard core religious right. Maybe 30%

I really don't give a damn, jump off a bridge if you want. If Christians want to organize and boycott this nonsense then we should. Nothing clever or cute about it.

Not only boycott, but start moving in the direction to change the powers in charge of the fallen state. They were once blessed by having Moore, now they're set up to feel the wrath that is yet to come.

So individuals in public office do not have a right to freedom of speech??
When acting as a private citizen they have complete freedom of speech and religion. When acting in their role as a government official, they are bound by the Constitution and cannot show religious preference.

A few years ago, we had a case here where a Democratic judge was preaching at and prosletyzing to a defendant while in chambers. No one would ever say that said judge couldn't serve as a preacher in a church on her own time. I think anyone would say her behavior as a judge was wrong and illegal.

Me, too....but this has put Pryor in an untenable position. The Dems are going continue to vote against him, and, at least in Alabama and from the supporters of Judge Moore, the religious conservatives have turned against him.

42 But, the person who scandalizes even the smallest that trust me would be better off if he had a large stone placed around his neck and thrown into the sea before he caused the scandal. 43

This is a red herring. He did not have authority from the elected officials of the state. He put the rock in on his own. Instead of grandstanding, he could have worked through the political system to have them installed. I can't believe all the people here who want a judge to have dictitorial powers.

Remember, they executed John Brown and even as his body still to this day "lies a-mouldering in his grave" abolition won the day. We can lose a battle and sacrifice a martyr but still win the war in the long run.

like the good carnie huckster he is

that psychotic hucksters

Juuust out of curiosity CP, could these factual assertions of yours be considered slander, since I'm fairly certain you have no evidence of Judge Moore's affiliation with any carnival, nor his "psychotic" mental state?

I seem to remember a high-and-mighty someone admonishing many of us not to say such things about a certain Michael Schiavo.

he failed to perform his duties within the law

He says that all he did was acknowledge God.

He says that the court opens with the words "God save the court," that people put their hands on the bible and say, "so help me God", etc., etc.

He read from the transcript where Pryor's questions were about whether he insisted on his right to acknowledge God even when he's chief justice. He said he would insist on that right and do the same thing.

He also suggested that the court was held in secret and was fixed ahead of time. Otherwise, why not televise something as simple as a hearing about a statue.

Are you calling Ex-Judge Moore a martyr?
