Defy the leftist media! YOU can help get "The Memo" out the the American People! CLICK HERE!
11-15-03

Posted on 11/15/2003 9:14:47 AM PST by jmstein7

“If what has happened here is not treason, it is its first cousin. The ones responsible - be they staff or elected or both should be dealt with quickly and severely sending a lesson to all that this kind of action will not be tolerated, ignored or excused.” -- Senator Zell Miller (D-GA)

The Senate Democrats have gone too far, but nothing will be done unless you help take action. Please write a “letter to the editor” of your local newspaper and tell them why the U.S. Senate must investigate the Dem Memo!

1) Click here if you are unfamiliar with the contents of the memo.

2) Click here to use the “Write for W” form, where you can write your letter and automatically have it sent to the editor of your local publication.

If you don't have time to write your own letter, or if you need some ideas, here is a sample (tip: short letters get printed):

Jeers to the press for giving the Democrat party a pass on their memo outlining a strategy to use the power of the non-partisan Senate Intelligence Committee as a political weapon against the president.  Further jeers to the news outlets that let the Democrats get away with the Democrat spin strategy of blaming the cops for catching the robbers.

The Democrats have been caught, red handed.  As Democrat Senator Zell Miller said, “If what has happened here is not treason, it is its first cousin. The ones responsible - be they staff or elected or both should be dealt with quickly and severely sending a lesson to all that this kind of action will not be tolerated, ignored or excused.”  If the Democrat Senators are putting politics above the security of the American people, the press is criminally negligent for not doing their job and reporting this disgrace to the people.

Of course, edit, add, truncate that sample as you like.  The shorter you can make it, the better.

3)  Sign the petition to investigate this abomination here.

4)  Keep the GOP Senators' feet to the fire here.

But, there is more we can do!  In the House!

House Resolution to Call for Sen. Rockefeller's Resignation (MemoGate Action Alert!)

Although the Senate Republicans have taken some significant steps toward holding the Democrats on the Select Intelligence committee accountable for their treasonous memo outlining a plan to use the power and resources of the committee against the President -- such as partially shutting the committee down -- further action is necessary.

Despite popular belief, there are Republicans in Washington with spines -- in the House of Representatives.  For example, Majority Leader DeLay has shown an enormous willingness to play hardball with the Democrats -- just look at how he is punishing House Democrats by denying them pork for their districts and how he beat the Texas Democrats over the redistricting issue.  This is the type of Republican we need fighting with us on this one!

Thus, we have reason to believe that House Republicans would be willing, with enough of a "push", to bring a resolution to the floor calling for the resignation of Senator Rockefeller.  The House Democrats are bringing a resolution to the floor calling for the Secretary of Defense's resignation -- why not bring our own demanding the resignation of a real traitor?

You can help the effort in a few easy steps:

1)  Click here to open the fax window.  Enter the phone number EXACTLY like this:  1-202-225-5241

2)  Write him a fax explaining why the House Republicans need to pass a resolution demanding the resignation of Senator Rockefeller over the Democrat Memo, or, if you are short on time, use the following sample:

Dear Congressman,

I'm writing you regarding a grave threat to the safety and security of Americans at home and abroad.

As I am sure you are aware, a memo from the Democrats on the Senate Select Intelligence committee has surfaced outlining a plan to:

Fabricate political conclusions that would damage and embarrass the President and the administration, “pull the trigger” on an "investigation", under false pretenses, using the resources of the Intelligence Committee to search (or fish) for information that might support the pre-determined political conclusions, and then, using a loophole in the Intelligence Committee rules, attach it as a “political bomb” to any report the committee releases.

This is treason, and, as Senator Zell Miller stated, "heads should roll".  Unfortunately, the Senate Republicans have been unable or unwilling to carry out their duty to investigate this gross ethical violation that threatens the safety of all Americans - the Intelligence Committee is supposed to be determining how to improve our intelligence gathering capabilities and make America safer, not conducting opposition research for the Democrat National Committee.  This unnecessarily wastes public funds and puts us all at risk.

Of course, the Senate Democrats, instead of disavowing the memo (the American thing to do) have chosen to put politics over national security.  They have chose a "spin" strategy: blame the cops for catching the robbers.  They have been caught red handed committing an act of treason, and they would like to, instead, put the blame on those who caught them.  This cannot stand.

Therefore, I call on you and the House Republicans to do the right thing: call for the resignation of Senator Rockefeller.  Even if he did not himself pen the memo, a member of his staff must have.  The doctrine of respondeat superior dictates that a superior is held responsible for the acts of his subordinates.  Senator Rockefeller, ranking member of the committee, must therefore be held responsible; the U.S. House of Representatives must pass a Resolution calling for the Senate to launch an ethics investigation into the Democrat Memo and to expel Senator Rockefeller..

Please do the right thing, Congressman.

Thank you,

YOUR NAME

YOUR ADDRESS

3)  Send it!  That's all there is to it.

Also, please take the time to call Rep. DeLay about this important issue at: (202) 225-5951

I strongly suggest faxing/emailing/calling/mailing your own representatives (or others in the House Leadership).

You can find your representatives by clicking here.  You can find other members of the leadership here.

Let's keep their feet to the fire!!!

I almost forgot about Freepers. I have been busy this week E-mailing and calling Pat Roberts and the Senate Ethics Comm, trying to keep this alive. The right seems to suffer from a lack of activists.

Thanks. As Hugh Hewitt said, remember:

"The Democratic memo reveals that much of what the media has been focusing on for the past six months has been a set-up job. The staff and Democratic members of the Senate Intelligence Committee have been selling story after story (think the Niger yellowcake and "imminent" threat controversies). Out of whole cloth, they have contrived an ambiguous but ominous speculation about the Bush administration's sinister motives for invading Iraq. Now, through this one memo, they have been revealed as nothing short of cynical political operatives. And the reporters who ran with their hints
are revealed as breathless and easily manipulated amateurs.

The media has to ignore the memo because to focus on it would be to focus on their own gullibility.

There is no escaping the hard fact that the Democratic staff embraced the "verdict first, trial later" approach to oversight. They were on a mission to undermine the president and his administration, no matter what the intelligence showed or will show, and the senators did nothing to rein in their out-of-control staff.

The committee's Democratic members are discredited, as are their previous and future attacks on the president. When it comes to the national security, the statements of Democratic senators simply cannot be trusted. The proof is in the memo. "

It's time for impeachment proceedings against yet another Democrat. Maybe more than one, maybe the entire Democrat membership of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence?

Either way, it's a matter for the House to start, and the Senate, if they can find their cajones, to finish. I won't hold my breath for the latter. The stones in question are probably sitting in a jar in a certain Harlem office, next to a safe containing a bunch of FBI and CIA files.
