Help Hold Ted Kennedy Accountable for His Racially Insensitive Remarks

Once again, the press is giving a Democrat Senator a "pass" on racially insensitive conduct.  If you are unfamiliar with the controversy, click here.  We, the people, must not let Senator Kennedy skate.

Please help out by taking the following easy steps to get the story out:

1)  Click here to open an email to CORE (the Congress of Racial Equality).  It is time for them to prove they can be effective, and writing to Republicans in Congress is not the answer to this issue.  Of course, please feel free to send this email to any group that is in a position to help on this issue.

2)  Compose an email demanding that Senator Kennedy be held responsible for his conduct.  If you are short on time, a sample email follows:

Dear Mr. Innis,

I am writing to you because I am OUTRAGED by Senator Ted Kennedy's insensitive public comments on Friday -- specifically, his calling well-qualified minority judges such as Janice Rogers Brown and Miguel Estrada, African-American and Hispanic respectively, "Neanderthals".  Though Senator Kennedy's comments were unquestionably insensitive, he refuses to apologize -- nor is the "free press" forcing him to apologize.  In fact, it appears that they are once again burying a story merely because pursuing it would hurt a popular Democrat.

If a Republican had made the same comment, his congressional office would have been empty by 12:00pm yesterday afternoon -- and Senators like Ted Kennedy would be calling for blood (and for heads to roll).

CORE's mission, as stated, is "to identify and expose acts of discrimination in the public and private sectors of society. When such an act is uncovered, CORE. . . goes into action."  It is time to go into action.

This blatant bias in the press -- self-imposed press censorship to protect a Democrat Senator -- must not stand, and Senator Kennedy must be held accountable for his reprehensible, hypocritical, insensitive conduct.  Therefore, I call on CORE to immediately and publicly take visible action and call for Senator Kennedy's resignation, as he has once again proved that he is unfit to serve in the United States Senate.  At the minimum, Senator Kennedy must be censured for his atrocious conduct.

Thank you,

YOUR NAME AND ADDRESS

3)  Send it!

4) Click here to send an email to your friends asking them to email CORE as well!  Just compose a message and put your friends email addresses in the TO field.

Good job!

PS  Please check in (or reply with a BUMP) after you send your email so we can get a head count.  Thanks!

To be blunt, he called them ape people. They're American citizens. That means he's calling 50% of the citizen population "ape people" because they're not thinking as he dictates.

It is my not so humble opinion that you perpetuate the PC attack on freedom of speech by this action. All this does is agree with the left that name calling is somehow verboten. If Ted Kennedy wants to call someone by any name it is his right. If it offends someone, that is not a capitol offense in this country. This nation is supposed to be based on freedom of speech, and that is the message the media should be getting. They always demand their own first ammendment rights, but they extend to all of us.

The best guide for us is to use common courtesy in dealing with our fellow man. See, I said a no no. So sue me.

Mr. Kennedy should be careful what names he calls others. He himself has been called "alcoholic", "womanizer", "killer", "Murderer" and those are just from people who KNOW him!

If a Republican did it, he would be on the air (with the aid and assistance of the mainstream press) calling for resignations and heads.

So, when HE engages in this behavior, he must be held to the standard of conduct he imposes on others.

You're missing the point. The point is that Kennedy must be called out on his own hypocrisy.

Yeah, he might fall through the ice and drown.

I agree. Let's not get into the jackass/sharpyton level of "racism is everywhere" crap. The swimmer should be rebuked just for the insult.

No, I do not miss your point, I just think you are wrong and in the long run, more harm comes of it than good.

Of course, you are entitled to you opinion, but...

the Republicans in the Senate use your approach all the time...

and we call them "spineless".

You can't kill Democrats with kindness.

Well, Hillary Rodham Clinton also made an uncalled for remark, that reference the nominee's intelligence. I have watched for a repeat and haven't seen one yet. This was the same day the swimmer made his remark.

The problem with a lot of "Purists rightwingers" is their desire to fight. If there is nothing at any given moment to fight with the left about, they turn their guns on their own.

I'm not making this up. My entire career of more than thirty years in Washington, working with conservative groups has given me first hand evidence of that, and no matter what you say on this matter, I strongly disagree with you.

I respect your right to disagree; so, why don't we just agree to disagree?

It wasn't my intention to attack you, so if I came accross that way, I apologize.
