SEARS COMPANY SUPPORTS ITS RESERVISTS

I assume you've all seen the reports on how Sears is treating its reservist employees who are called up for military duty. By law, all companies are required to hold their jobs open and available, but nothing more. Usually, reservists take big pay cuts and lose benefits as a result of being called up. However, Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and maintaining all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus programs for all its reservists who are called-up for up to 2 years. Sears is being an exemplary corporation and should be recognized for its contribution.

I decided to check this out before I forwarded it on. I sent an e-mail to Sears Customer service regarding the above and here is their response:

Dear Customer: Thank you for contacting Sears. The information is factual. We appreciate your positive feedback. Sears regards service to our country as one of the greatest sacrifices our young men and women can make. We are happy to do our part ot lessen the burdeen they bear at this time.

I thought Sears should be honored for their support and felt Free Republic would be a great place to help say Thank you to Sears and encourage people to spend their US Dollars on a company who supports US troops!

This is why we recently bought a washing machine from them. Not that we would not have anyway, but this gave me a reason to bypass the shoping and comparison process.

I made the comment to the salesman that we were buying the unit from Sears because we appreciate their support for the troops, and he told me that he has gotten a huge amount of positive feedback over this, so it seems to be having a good marketing effect. I urge everyone who approves of this policy to let Sears, and every other retail giant, know how they feel. Maybe this will become more commonplace.

This is almost too good to be true.
It's like a Frank Capra "Love Letter To America", era-gone-by thing.

If I hadn't sprung for so many care-packages, I'd buy a share of Sears stock so
I could get the microphone at the next stockholders meeting in order to say "Thank You".

I will keep Sears in mind if any big purchases come up in the extended family, for sure.

LOL...Sears....I have to laugh, a salesman tried to screw me over on a hot water heater a few months ago...kept pushing me to the next highest price and I needed this and that...all, after telling him my husband was in Iraq, finally went to an appliance store and when I was telling them my situation the manager gave me a new hot water heater and installed it for free...unbelievable.

I applaud how Sears treats their employees, maybe they should treat their customers the same way.

Hope I don't burst anyone's bubble.

If you want to keep your Sears health, dental or life insurance when you are deployed they require you to pay for it.( Just like when you are working)

If you are a rank of E-4 or above you most likely make more than what Sears Pays.

The only bonus program I know of there is based on production or sales which are hard to get if you are deployed.

Flame away because I am prepared. I am a longtime year Sears employee and a Guard member who has been deployed three times since 9 11 for operation Induring Freedom and I have had to battle Sears all the way.
