Wouldn't it have been easier to BURN the files, rather than tear them up?

These guys were COMMIES, so don´t wonder about what they did... ;-)

It was "Top Secret", the Val Kilmer movie. The other funny sight gag was the government official who rubber stamped everything with "Find Him and Kill Him." Still one of the funniest movies of all time. Gotcha! was another good one, especially when Jonathan finally makes it back to West Berlin and the first thing he does is go to McDonalds and orders "a big American hamburger, with large 'American' french fries, no bratwurst, no wienerschnitzels." (besides it had Linda Fiorentino in it!!!)

We had Gotcha on Laserdisc in the shop where I served in Germany so I got to see it several times...

I have never heard of anyone going to an optometrist stating that they needed help or pain relief because they had seen Linda Fiorentino in a movie... In other words, she is very easy on the eyes!!!!

Thank you for reminding me of the name of that movie...

BTW... My favorite part of "Gotcha" was when Anthony Edwards came back from East Berlin and said what he said to the East Germans... (I think similar words may have been unfairly directed at Toby Keith by the Dixie Chicks)... The Border Guard then said, "I have been wanting to say that for six months!"

millions of files on informants torn up by the East German secret police

I knew that the Stasi were low lifes, but I thought they'd at least advanced to the point of being able to make a fire.
