Pro-Abortion Teacher Sues Catholic School, Diocese For Firing Her.

(LifesiteNews.com/CWN) - A teacher at an all-girl Catholic school in Delaware, who was fired for signing her name to a pro-abortion newspaper advertisement, is suing the school for "illegally" firing her.

Michele Curay-Cramer, 32, was fired from Ursuline Academy when her name appeared in the pro-abortion ad. The lawsuit said the school's action violated the woman's rights under the Civil Rights Act. Curay-Cramer claims that she is still a bona fide Catholic: "The Catholic Catechism says that if you do what you do with a clean conscience, then you've done nothing wrong."

She also described herself as "pro-life, pro-choice."

In its defense, the Diocese of Wilmington wrote: "The Constitution guarantees every religious institution the right to practice and uphold the teachings of its faith, and the diocese and bishop strongly support the right of every Catholic school to ensure that its faculty members teach and uphold the doctrine of the Catholic faith."

"The Catholic Catechism says that if you do what you do with a clean conscience, then you've done nothing wrong."

The Catechism would be speaking here, of a correctly formed conscience. It goes on to say that one has a duty to form one's conscience in the light of authentic Catholic teaching. And authentic Catholic teaching is that abortion is evil.

Having a "clean conscience" is an oft misused phrase. To the short-sighted, no conscience whatsoever is often mistaken for a "clean conscience". Feeling no guilt may speak just as much to the lack of individual morals as it does to the probity of the actions performed.

If she supports murdering the unborn with a clear conscience she certainly has no business in a girls Catholic school.

Having a clean conscience is the mark of a psycopath -- Charles Manson didn't feel guilty about what he did but it was still wrong.

Thanks for the clarification. I am not Catholic so I am not familiar with the Catechism, but her use of it just sounded WRONG. She sounded like she was justifying sociopaths, who are totally amoral, based on them having "clean consciences."

In other news, Hitler sues US for not being considered for overall allied commander. Man sues for discrimination when turned down for female locker room monitor at local school Gym. Should be obvious; but, some people will not be moved by common sense.

She also described herself as "pro-life, pro-choice."

Michele Curay-Cramer is another example of a CINO 'cafeteria' catholic. I hope she wasn't teaching the Religion class.

Abortion

Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person - among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life.72

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you.73

My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately wrought in the depths of the earth.74

That's the Catholic view and it was also the traditional Protestant view as well. God gives everyone a conscience (He writes upon the hearts even of pagans, according to Paul), but He also gives everyone the obligation to form it properly. For Protestants that meant keeping good company, finding a church, listening to sermons, reading the Bible, praying for grace.

If you drift into evil ways, your conscience may gradually decay and get buried under layers of sin. As the old saying goes, "Lust blinds the eye." So do other sins.

It seems a little fishy. A "pro-choice" Catholic seeking a teaching position at a Catholic all-girls high school, teaching language and religion. I wonder if this wasn't her motive all along - to put herself in this position of conflict, 'standing up for her rights' as an 'example' to these teen girls who, at their age, have a keen sense of 'justice' and question such things naturally even if/while retaining solidly Catholic moral teaching. Really distorting Catholic teaching and the moral beliefs of her students. Hmmm....

From Casti connubii

104. Wherefore, let the faithful also be on their guard against the overrated independence of private judgment and that false autonomy of human reason. For it is quite foreign to everyone bearing the name of a Christian to trust his own mental powers with such pride as to agree only with those things which he can examine from their inner nature, and to imagine that the Church, sent by God to teach and guide all nations, is not conversant with present affairs and circumstances; or even that they must obey only in those matters which she has decreed by solemn definition as though her other decisions might be presumed to be false or putting forward insufficient motive for truth and honesty. Quite to the contrary, a characteristic of all true followers of Christ, lettered or unlettered, is to suffer themselves to be guided and led in all things that touch upon faith or morals by the Holy Church of God through its Supreme Pastor the Roman Pontiff, who is himself guided by Jesus Christ Our Lord.
