Massive (50,000) London protest targets Bush, Iraq policy

LONDON -- A throng of at least 50,000 demonstrators moved through the heart of London to send an anti-war message to President George W. Bush.

The march set off from the University of London and passed parliament and the prime minister's residence. Thousands more gathered ahead at Trafalgar Square.

Demonstrators moved to the beat of drums, their chants mixed with the blasts of foghorns.

A towering effigy of Bush holding a missile was toppled in an effort to mirror the toppling of Saddam Hussein's statue when Baghdad fell to U.S. forces this spring.

The march began hours after deadly bomb attacks on British targets in Istanbul, Turkey. Security in London for the march and the president's three-day visit was intense. A police official said more than 5,000 officers were on duty in the city.

First it's 200,000, then 150,000 now

ABC news radio is saying it's 70,000.

Eventually FOX will report the truth: 25,000.

Thank you. I have always wondered how many people it took to constitute a throng.
Now I know, 50,000.

The Mirror and other London outfits are using "Million Man Math" to determine the size of the crowd.

Since I logged in ten minutes ago, the numbers have dropped from 200,000 to 35,000. Looking at the webcams, it looks more like a couple of thousand, and there's no way to tell how many are simply tourists and onlookers.

They didn't get half what they wanted. Looks like the average Brit gets it.

Even if it was 50,000, since when is that a massive demonstration? The last demonstration I participated in had an actual head count of over 100,000 by signature card. The liberal media on that day was, to say the least, conservative in their reports of "hundreds of protesters"; "a small number of conservative extremists", etc.

Massive (50,000) London protest targets Bush, Iraq policy

On any given Sunday, there are 100 of thousands of people in stadiums across the US protesting the poor play of their football teams.

If the evil alliance of Stalinists, Watermellons and Islamonazis with tons of Sorus money, months of planning and all the free publicity the leftist media could muster can only get 50,000 people to show up, I'd say their protest is a major league flop.

Hell, more people showed in London to stare at a guy sitting in plastic box than showed for these hyped-up protests.

The Police are reporting a figure of 70K which is probably more like it.

From the pre-event publicity by the most trusted voices in the mainstream media I would have expected no less than:

15,324,500 Demonstrators Against Bush

This must be really disappointing for the anarchists.

What Americans (and people world-wide) need to remember, is that even if the numbers are 100+ thousand, that this is a tiny, tiny percentage of Brits. In fact, a large percentage of the protesters are probably shipped in from Socialist enclaves throughout Europe. Take a look at the pictures. You will see every kind of riff raff attending these protests.

Here's a couple of nice bits of skirt.

Of course we have the usual useful idiots from the Socialist Worker, what’s funny is the work Worker in their title since they’re mainly comprised of spoilt rich kids and ne're-do-wells who live on the dole.

Here’s a few choice snippets ….

Michael Moore tour

OVER 2,600 people packed out the Apollo Theatre in Manchester to listen to American writer and film-maker Michael Moore as part of his UK book tour last week.

Michael spent the first half of his show arguing how important it was to join the protests against George W Bush's visit.

He emphasised the impact that these protests can have in further undermining Bush's popularity in the US.

He also promised to pay the cost of a coach to London to assist Manchester people to join this week's demonstration, and handed over a personal cheque for $1,000.

Abbott gets short shrift

OVER 40 people turned up to a meeting in Hackney last week to hear our local MP, Diane Abbott, defend her decision to send her son to a private school-but she never showed up.

People at the meeting, called by the Northwold Residents Group in Upper Clapton, were furious. One woman brought the whole meeting alive when she said, "I'm a black single parent like Diane Abbott, and what she's done has made things worse for my son, not better."

Most of the people there were supporters of Diane Abbott, which made them more furious. One speaker summed up the feelings of most when he said, "We've always supported her over privatisation, the war in Iraq, asylum seekers, and she's kicked us in the teeth."

Looks like Michael Moore paid for at least one bus full. Wonder what they wrote on the side of the bus? Moore's Morons?
