November 20, 2003 – 5:35 P.M. PST Thank you very much to the thousands of you who joined in our latest efforts to protest Viacom-Showtime’s attack on President Reagan with their upcoming broadcast of the hitpiece, “The Reagans.” So many of you wrote to Viacom and Showtime to complain that they shut down their email systems. Apparently Viacom and Showtime want everyone to hear what they have to say about President Reagan (even though much of it is totally untrue and baseless) but they don’t want to hear what the American people think of this. I first made a call to arms for supporters of President Reagan to rise up and protest the airing of the miniseries because this shameful movie is an attempt by crass liberals to concoct lies and false representations of Ronald Reagan – and then profit from it. I find that abhorrent. Especially when you consider that this vicious attack on President Reagan is coming at a time when he is 92 and bravely fighting the ravages of Alzheimers. If you are a subscriber to Showtime and have not already done so, I urge you to call your cable operator and cancel your subscription to the pay channel. Be sure to tell the cable operator why you are terminating your Showtime subscription. But we must do more to ensure that Viacom and Showtime do not profit from the smearing of President Reagan, his family and his administration. When we were trying to make our message heard by CBS, we went straight to where CBS makes its money from – their advertisers. We explained to them (by the hundreds of thousands) that we would not do business with those who would spew hate and lies toward one of America’s greatest presidents. [Note: The producers of “The Reagans” have complained that our actions amount to censorship. This is preposterous. Censorship would be having federal or state governments intervening to prohibit the airing of a movie or show. Instead what we are doing is making it clear that in our free enterprise system we will utilize the strength of our consumer dollars and the voice this gives us to tell companies like Viacom that we will not allow them to profit by attacking our values and those who have served America with dignity and greatness.] Now, as we face the prospect of Showtime airing “The Reagans” beginning on November 30th (and likely repeated several times thereafter) we must voice our outrage to those who Showtime depends on for financial success: the cable operators that make the decision about whether to offer Showtime to their customers. I have assembled a list of contacts for some of the largest cable operators in the nation. I urge every one of you reading this email to please make a phone call and write an email to as many of the cable operator representatives listed below. We have them on the run – but let’s not stop here. *Please – We need these cable companies to hear from as many Americans as possible in a very short amount of time. Forward this email to every Reagan supporter you know. Post this on any websites you host or message boards/discussion boards that you visit. P.S. In my next email I will include a copy of the “Ronald Reagan – American Hero” newspaper ad that we are producing. This ad will set the record straight on the accomplishments and achievements of President Reagan in his lifetime. I am still collecting contributions to pay for the running of this ad in as many newspapers as possible. Each ad in a major daily newspaper will run between $10,000 and $25,000. An ad in USA Today will run us about $75,000. I still need several thousand more of you to make a contribution of $25, $50, $100, $500 or $1,000 to help us refute the lies of Viacom and Showtime and ensure that all Americans are reminded of the great achievements of President Reagan. To make a contribution to these ads CLICK HERE right now. Now, please, contact these cable operators listed below and respectfully ask them to drop Showtime from their channels offered unless Showtime agrees not to air “The Reagans.”
