Photo shows Ferrie and Lee H Oswald together 1955 (Ferrie told FBI in '63 he didn't know Oswald)

FRONTLINE obtained this photograph from John B. Ciravolo, Jr., of New Orleans. Ciravolo was also a C.A.P. member in 1955 and says he was in the same unit with Oswald and was standing right in front of him in the photo. Ciravolo identified David Ferrie, while former C.A.P. cadet Tony Atzenhoffer, also of New Orleans, identified Oswald and Ferrie in the photograph, and Colin Hammer, who says he served with both men in the C.A.P., also identified both in the photograph.

FRONTLINE located the photographer, Chuck Frances, who says he took the picture for the C.A.P. Francis also said that when he was interviewed by the FBI, he told them Oswald and Ferrie knew each other, but he did not tell them about the photograph. The executor of Ferrie's estate, as well as Ferrie's godson, also picked out Ferrie.

After the Kennedy assassination, David Ferrie told investigators he never knew Lee Oswald. "I never heard David Ferrie mention Lee Harvey Oswald," said Layton Martens, a former C.A.P. Cadet and a close friend to Ferrie until Ferrie's death in 1967.

But when FRONTLINE showed Martens the photograph, he identified Ferrie. "It does indicate the possibity of an associaton," said Martens, "but if and to what extent is another question. Of course we've all been photographed with people, and we could be presented with photographs later and asked, 'Well, do you know this person? Obviously, you must because you've been photographed with them.' Well no, it's just a photograph, and I don't know that person. It's just someone who happened to be in the picture."

"As dramatic as the discovery of this photograph is after thirty years," says Michael Sullivan, FRONTLINE executive producer for special projects, "one should be cautious in ascribing its meaning. The photograph does give much support to the eyewitnesses who say they saw Ferrie and Oswald together in the C.A.P., and it makes Ferrie's denials that he ever knew Oswald less credible. But it does not prove that the two men were with each other in 1963, nor that they were involved in a conspiracy to kill the president."

Interesting, Captain: JFK has been DEAD ( and,yes he is STILL DEAD ) for 40 years, but the conspiracy buffs rant on.

Is C.A.P. the Civil Air Patrol or something else? Also what connection is Ferrie supposed to have to the assasination? I'm not up to speed on this.

Conspiracy Guy, no hat to the left of Oswald in photo claims he has never been to Dallas.

Conspiracy Guy also claims he has never been to a Victoria's fashion show.

These photos tell a different story.

David Ferrie was a lowgrade, very eccentric, private pilot who figured large in Jim Garrison's crazy crusade to prove New Orleans glitterati Clay Shaw was involved in a conspiracy with Oswald to kill JFK. Ferrie purportedly claimed that someone, whom he never adequately identified, had discussed hiring him to fly from New Orleans to Dallas and back on what turned out to be the day JFK was assassinated. In the midst of Garrison's showboating, Ferrie dropped dead -- apparently from completely natural causes.

IF Ferrie and Oswald were both in the cadet Air Patrol in 1955, then it must have been very evanescent because Oswald didn't stay long in the CAP and was, I think, high school age at the time; so I attach absolutely no significance to Ferrie's inability to remember a dozen years later that they met.

watch what you say/think.

read "farewell america: the plot to kill jfk"

the fbi banned this book for decades because it showed many corporate/political connections to jfk's assassination.

a read now may surprise you.

Because ANYTHING associated with that family of sociopaths, alcoholics, drug-addicts, perverts, and general FILTH known as the Kennedy's is NEVER what it seems.

If the truth got too near ANY Kennedy, they would react like a Vampire to a cross!

Tell you what, o' fearless ballistics expert...volunteer to re-enact that day in Dalla...and to be shot with the same gun that shot Kennedy, and have another member of your family in the front seat of the same type car...let's see if a pristine bullet drops out on your gurney!

These were DEMONRATS...mobbed-up, and drunk on power! Do you REALLY think one man did all this, and that Jack Ruby just suddenly got a sense of morality and outrage spontaneously?!?!

And the (R)'s that were involved were only too HAPPY to help cover-up the truth!

Tin-Foil my @SS!

This morning on KTTH during the Mike Seigal show,(Seattle), Jack Anderson, remember him, was interviewed. He claimed Castro had the mob hit Kennedy and LBJ knew it.

Castro supposedly told the mob he would pay them market value for the casino's and businesses in cash, lost when the Revolution liberated the Island from those evil capitalists.

This was a response for Kennedy trying to eliminate him. It was also stated the LBJ Administration feared atomic weapon retaliation from Kruschev if the US took out the Island dictator.

The Warren Commission was manipulated and neutered by design by LBJ and J. Edgar Hoover. This is Anderson's story and he's sticking to it.

Civil Air Patrol (CAP), and eight years is not too long to remember someone you knew, even in high school. For instance, I remember that I was driving from Biloxi, Ms. to Mobile, Al and I was five days away from my twenty sixth birthday when JFK was shot. I also remember who it was that I was going to visit in Mobile.

The only thing that this information pertains to is memory, not a theory of who killed the president.

At least they only they kill each other off. Kennedys, Monroe, Ruby, LBJ, Clinton, Wellstone, Carnahan, Foster, Brown,... It's like the scene at the end of the Pink Panther movie "A Shot in the Dark" where the car blows up and kills everyone in it. Clueseau says, "they were all murderers anyway, except for one who was an extortionist". In this case, Republicans say they were all murdering Democrats anyway, except for maybe a couple who were extortionist Democrats. lol

(Perhaps the Wellstone and Carnahan deaths were legit...big coincidence though, both in the midwest in a close race...giving the dead RAT bounce...of course they overplayed it with Wellstone)

Well duh! They did not ask him where he was the day Kennedy was shot. Could you similarly remember everyone whose picture might have been taken with you at summer camp when you were 15?
