Not even mentioned is the Dim's unwillingness to defend the people of the U.S. against the terrorists and the terror masters.

You guys DON'T win elections.

O! There it is. Something for me to be angry about for DAYS. :o)

We may not win elections, but without us, you can't.

Great article until the last two lines.

A new star is rising in conjunction with this massive shift.

We the people...

The Prescription bill is the proverbial nose of the camel leading to the first private management of any facet of that leviathan black hole.

That is exactly right. To use a football analogy, the Republicans intercepted the dims pass deep in our territory and now we have possession of the ball(AARP) and moving it in the right direction. It'll take years to refine the issue to our liking since it is so complex, but now that we have the ball we call the plays and control the clock.

What most people don't understand, it took one hell of an effort just to get possession of the ball. To think we were going to intercept the ball and run it 99 yards for a touchdown is unrealistic. All we have to do now is play incremental ball control offense and in 5-10 years, it'll end up looking like the bill we wanted all along. Just look at how we incrementally did the tax cuts.

In a nutshell, incrementalism is not only smart politics it is smart policy. Those that are screaming and hollering idealogical purity know little about getting real results, let alone winning elections.

They can keep the Unions .. the Union Boss' are too dirty for my liking

No, we will even get the Unions.

As members have more stake in the value of their pension plans and 401K's, as union members become homeowners, their leaders will find new value in working with Republicans. Our only difficulty will be in reconciling the demands of unions who want a piece of the action with our strength in the Right to Work states.

Part of being a majority party is winning over labor. This will happen. Until then, we are witness to yet another columnist who gets it.

The Medicare Bill is expensive, but it takes away from the Democratic Party their hold on the elderly.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

...once one is in control of the whole shebang, there is little motivation to shrink said shebang...

On the other hand, you can't shrink what you don't control. Once control is firmly locked in, it is our duty to hold their feet to the fire and demand said shrinkage...

I agree with you.

President Bush is looking for long term gains. The first goal is to decrease the power of the Democrats. One way is to take an issue of the table.

President Bush has shown me he knows what he is doing, and although I do not agree with everything, I will support him.

Power in Washington is shifting

Excerpt:

The Republicans have also begun doing to Democrats what Democrats did to Republicans for half a century -- cutting them out of both the information and influence loop on legislation. The Medicare legislative process is a prime example. Over the last few months, when ranking Democratic Congressmen and senators have spoken before vital trade associations, they have been unable to tell their audiences the status of Medicare legislation for the simple reason that they have been cut out of the negotiations. On the other hand, key Republicans have been able to provide up-to-the minute insights into the decision-making that can make or break whole industries.

Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my General Interest ping list!. . .don't be shy.

True .. but the union members are going to have a struggle on their hands, because the Boss' aren't going to step aside without a fight

You're a smart guy. The premier issue in America today is the stacking of the courts with our fellow travelers. Nothing can change until the federal and state courts rid themselves of judicial tyrannists because our elected legislators do not hav the necessary male equipment to smack them down.

The only way to do that is to elect right of center executives.

Likewise the premier issue in foreign policy is jihadists. We have two choices there, the dims who pardon terrorists or President Bush who sends out our brothers in arms to kill them. That is no choice, President Bush must be re-elected.

(The unions will be the last interests to leave the Democrats.)

A good percentage of union members vote GOP. I for one, do not want the corrupt bosses in our Grand Old Party, but I have no problem with 'gelding' them.

I shudder to think of the magnitude of the disaster that must overtake this nation, so that the Democrat minority may then proclaim themselves the saviors of America. But then, nobody could predict the magnitude of the Great Depression before it happened, either. Part of what happened is that a large part of the rural population of that time found themselves facing the most severe drought this country had seen since its inception, and came flooding into the cities, which were having problems of their own. A critical mass of unrest came together, and by adopting the politics of revolution and pandering to dissent, the Democrat party of FDR managed to ride a flood of dissatisfaction into a majority that lasted over half a century.

All it took was spending money and mortgaging the future of America into infinity. Now the best anyone can say about this eternal debt is that it is perhaps a smaller fraction of the Gross National Product that in other eras, but never going away.

How is it shifting? It's shifting from one gang of parasites and their vote-buying scams to another, with slightly different vote-buying scams.

Big Stupid Republican Government gets bigger and dumber.
