The selfishness of some in the Hollyweird community is sickening, but there are also some of the finest who live there as well. Thank you to those who give of yourselves to bring a smile to our troops, you have earned our respect.

Natalie Maines deserves to be spat upon everywhere she goes.

She's too stupid to know she's just Saddam's willing whore.

Sinise is such a great actor. How about his turn as the bad guy in Mel Gibson's "Ransom"....

Damn. I thought this was going to be a thread about troops being entertained by the foolishness of Hillary Clinton.

I'm ashamed Natalie Maines is from Texas.Bless those entertainers who go to entertain our troops.Curse the politition who goes to lower their expectation of success.

I saw Dennis Miller 2 weeks ago at a free benefit performance at the Miramar MCAS (near San Diego.) Miller is rabidly unashamedly pro-military and pro-Bush. I hope he gets to go and entertain the troops in Iraq! The Marines loved him, it was a lovefes both ways. I wish I had recorded it!

Marilyn Monroe was unknown until 1947, Ann Margret was born in 1941, and only came to the States in '46, Connie Stevens was born in 1938 and wasn't a child star and Raquel Welch was born in 1940. Claiming these were WWII USO performers is pure balderdash.

Why does this guy lie for no gain?? Laziness??

I believe it was an unfortunate implication. The others did perform for the USO.The confusion ,if one has it,is that they are mentioned right after WW2 reference.

North doesn't claim that the people you mentioned entertained troops during WW11. Thay all did join Bob Hope in entertaining troops at various times.

I have seen films of this myself.

Is USO participation now the litmus test for patriotism?? The current schedule includes Joan Jett, a Dean supporter and (gasp) Merle Haggard...

Did you read the article?

The point the author is making is that Hollyweird wasn't always filled with leftist Hate America nuts.

Most of he "stars" today who do the most b#tching would never dream of entertaining the troops. Too busy attending award shows, where thay all can pat each other on the back.

"Why does this guy lie for no gain?? Laziness?? "

He didn't lie he just didn't add the transition that they went to Vietnam and not WWII!

I THINK YOU READ IT WRONG....

Marilyn went to Korea, Raquel, Ann and Connie... all went to 'Nam with Hope.

The writer didn't say these ladies went on the Hope tours in WWII.

The young Americans fighting this war here in Iraq don't believe they were misled. Their morale is high, their spirits are strong. They are doing a magnificent job and would like to know they have the support of their fellow Americans for what they're doing.

I've been traveling with members of the Army's 4th Infantry Division, and these soldiers don't deserve to return home to the kind of welcome my fellow veterans got when we returned from Vietnam. These soldiers are fighting the good fight and they don't need accusations from celebrity critics like the Dixie Chicks.

Nor do they deserve to have their actions chronicled by the likes of Sean Penn whom San Francisco Chronicle editor Phil Bronstein is considering hiring as a war correspondent.
