In our house, you eat what's put in front of you. I won't serve certain veggies if people hate them, but you will get two veg :) Sane portion sizes are served, and leftovers go into the fridge for meals the next day. I can't contol what gets eaten outside my home, but no-one's getting an unhealthy meal from me :)

That's pretty much how it went in our house, but my mother is still battling diabetes and high blood pressure unfortunately.

Mr. Mew got religion after our elders started having cardiac problems. His big problem now is exercise. I try to take walks with him and that helps. It's a lot more fun doing it together than alone. Maybe your hubby would prefer something other than the gym?

He says he likes it...it's really nice. It's climate-controlled, so you can't complain that it's too hot or cold. The sun sets here before 4pm now, so by the time we get home from work it's pitch black outside and not really ideal for taking a walk. (The sun rises after 8am, when we're both at work.) It also gets really cold here this time of year and we both have asthma; the cold aggravates it. He says he's "too tired" to go to the gym most of the time. I can understand that since I'm tired most of the time too, but regular exercise helps boost energy levels. I'll just have to keep nagging!

Maybe not nagging, just some creativity :) Boy, I understand the tired part, especially this time of year, and your asthma makes it harder. We put checkmarks on our calendar when we exercise. We take a look from time to time, and if we see too few checkmarks, we use that as a way to motivate ourselves. And if you're too tired to do much exercise, do a little :) Every bit helps. And if you start out with shorter periods, they're easier to fit in and you won't get discouraged by not getting as much in as you hoped.

Me thinks maybe you misunderstood what mewzilla was trying to tell you. There's one kind of exercise that all men love and can almost always find time for ... if you know what I mean ;-)
