The children and a man were found dead in the central Afghanistan village of Hutala after the A-10 airstrike intended for a suspected Taliban terrorist, Lt. Col. Bryan Hilferty said Sunday.
He added that investigators had not determined that Saturday's strike killed the children. Military spokesmen also said they did not know whether the dead man was the intended target.

Sad, though that's the cost of war, I suppose.

The United Nations' envoy to Afghanistan said he was "profoundly distressed" by the children's deaths. Screw the UN and it's envoy, they're doing nothing to help and are only hindering any efforts to deal with the terrorists.

Afghans understand deaths - U.S.
But don't expect lefties in the USA to understand...
that in war-time some very sad, unintended things are going to happen.

I feel bad for everyone involved. I feel bad for the kids who died. I feel bad for the grieving parents. And I also feel bad for the soldiers who were trying to make the world safer. I don't think they'll get over personally this any time soon.

Amen to that. I suspect some military chaplains in Afghanistan are working overtime.

The United Nations' envoy to Afghanistan said he was "profoundly distressed" by the children's deaths. Why is it that those connected to the UN are sounding more and more like Senator "what's his name" from South Dakoka?

I have no problem blaming the Taliban and Al Queda for all deaths on both sides in Afghanistan. US forces do not target innocents.

AFHGANISTAN: TERRORIST TARGETED, CHILDREN KILLED IN THE ATTACK
KABUL, AFGHANISTAN At approximately 10:30 a.m. local time Dec. 6, coalition aircraft south of Ghazni attacked with gunfire a suspected terrorist known to be responsible for recently murdering two Ring Road contractors.
Coalition forces acted after intelligence determined the known terrorist was at the isolated rural site. Following the attack, Coalition ground forces searching the area found the bodies of both the intended target and those of nine children nearby.
Coalition forces are remaining in the area and over the next several days will make every effort to assist the families of these innocent casualties and determine the cause of the civilian deaths.
As a result of this tragic incident, a commission is being formed to investigate the circumstances of the event and will conduct an immediate on-site assessment. Coalition forces regret the loss of any innocent life. Coalition forces follow stringent rules of engagement to specifically avoid this type of incident while continuing to target terrorists who threaten the future of Afghanistan.
