Steinbrenner has never liked Pettitte and just about had him traded to the Phillies in 1999, but was talked out of it. He never seriously tried to keep him with the Yankees this time, either. There may be something to the talk that he is developing arm problems. Anyway, just by getting rid of Jeff Weaver the Yankees will be a better team. I've been saying, as a Yankee fan, that I would be happy to trade Weaver for any player on any team's 40 man roster. The guy is a mental case. The Yanks could get another 2-3 years out of Brown and by then will have accumulated plenty of other free agent pitchers.

The guy is a mental case... How come every time I see Pettitte pitch in the playoffs he's close to unbeatable?
He's a money pitcher when it's playoff time.

Weaver and Brown are very similiar pitchers. Let's hope Brown is slightly better. Also known for arm problems.
