3rd body dug up at Hammond home Convicted killer from Illinois held for questioning

A 49-year-old convicted murderer from Illinois who was released from prison in 1999 has been held for questioning in Hammond after authorities unearthed a third body Wednesday from the basement of his home, sources said.

Two teens who had befriended the man have been missing since September and another teen disappeared in May, relatives and friends said as work crews broke up patches of newly poured concrete in a home on Ash Avenue in a search for more victims.

Lake County (Ind.) officials said dental records or DNA would be needed to identify two bodies found Tuesday, but they reported the victims were in their teens.

The suspect has a long history of violence against teen boys, records show. He pleaded guilty to killing a 15-year-old boy near Elgin in 1981, was imprisoned in Texas for stabbing a young man, and was discharged from the U.S. Army after being convicted of manslaughter for killing a German boy.

with his history of violent criminal behavior why is this guy out?

This is a lot like the Dru Sjodin case. (where the killer is a three time convicted rapist) A habitual criminal that should be behind bars for the rest of their lives isn't.

I bet the Sjodin story and this just barely scratch the surface, I expect there are hundreds of murders and other crimes that could have been, and should have been oprevented, had habitaul criminals been kept behind bars where they belong.

The death penalty would have prevented these three deaths, and the many more we will soon discover. I only wish that the dead would have been touchy-feely ACLU lawyers.

Oh..................

Gotta have room for all those non-violent drug offenders and the tax protesters.......

(They're easier to control anyway)

They are predator's.they are not responsive to rehabilitation, period. they prey on society without thought or care.
they have no business being put back out into our community where they can stalk, and kill at will.

the Dr.'s and other's who sit on the parole boards are the one's responsible for the carnage and as such they must be held accountable along with the perp.

serial killers and serial rapist's and sexual predator's are extremely dangerous, can fake their way through convincing the shrink's they have been rehabed.
these animal's have only one thing on thier mind's 24/7 and it's getting out and continuing on with the evil they were doing before they were caught.

we as a community are not safe to begin with and letting these monster's out only excaerbate's an already bad situation.
hold parole board's accountable.......... my 2cent's for this Thursday.

Hmmmm. I wonder if anyone tracks recidivism rates vs the shrink that said it was OK to release?

Maybe we could at least weed out the dumbest of the shrinks...

Thanks for the ping nully!
Cubs Fan, I'm glad you started a thread about this case, I will ping some my Illinois FReeper FRiends, I had posted a link to this case early this AM on a Dru thread. I, my brother, and his sister-in-law live very close to where this is happening and I will be better able to follow the goings on here. There is not allot of national news coverage as of yet, but I hear that simultaneous "digs" are happening where this suspect has lived since his release in 1999. He had only been renting this house in Hammond for about 15 months.

Time for some arabic prison time.

No heat, no AC, no windows, no TV, no weightrooms, just food twice a day.

I know I was in Kuwait in 1991 and visited prisoners, it was hot.

Guess what nobody wanted to go back. In addition, on the streets the beggers without a hand would send a strong message to gang leaders and members that they would not be able to hold thier Glock when they returned from prison.

Some additional info in the "person of interest."
Perp is 49 years old, released from prison in 1999, convicted of murdering a 15 year old boy from Cook County in 1981. Also convicted of sexual assault. Neighbors in Hammond say that he used to sell boys in the neighborhood bike parts, others say he lured them to his home with drugs, alcohol, video games, etc.
Here are some other links, the NBC link is one maggiefluffs posted at the Dru thread for me. Thanks again maggie.

Thanks. I should have put it in breaking but I forgot (its only my third thread starter so I'm kind of a n00b, oops)

Yeah I'm wondering if this is another Dahmer or Gacy. He's already (adding in the two priors) killed 5 people. Unfortunately, I expect more will be discovered.

I found this one on AP http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A56244-2003Dec11.html

But for some reason they seem to be behind the curve as they dont even mention the suspect's history

"with his history of violent criminal behavior why is this guy out?"

Liberals have persuaded society/juries that these people are just like you and I. They are sorry and can be rehabilitated. Which is bulls%^t. I dont care if they can be rehabilitated, hell I dont care if they come back and live thier life like Jesus. We should punish them for their crime and the death penalty should be enforced and used more often. Killing these people is no big deal and is really no different than killing a carrot, a tree or any other non-feeling living object.

I have already dubbed him "John Wayne Gacy Jr." But I think you may be right about the creepy Dahmer likeness too. Seems he's been targeting teen boys for some years now.
Autopsies may take some time according to LE.

I really need to look into learning how to start a thread. There have been some things going on in these parts that I said I should post here, but haven't because of my reluctance to learn new things...I gotta stop thinking like I'm 40 years older than I am!

Just saw the story run on fox news channel. It appears to be gaining momentum.

(BTW Jackie posting a thread takes some time cutting, pasting and fill in the blanks, but its not that hard, you should try it sometime)
