[history]
Thousands of Latinos throughout California Friday protested Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's repeal of a state law that would have allowed undocumented immigrants to apply for driver's licenses.
From Los Angeles, where the push for a boycott originated, to Ukiah in Mendocino County, where a protest was held, Latinos skipped work, stayed out of school and refused to patronize businesses, but the turnout was modest, given the state's large Latino population.

They should have taken time out during the day to get bus tickets back to their homeland. That would have made the boycott complete!

Latinos skipped work Why is it that those who claim to be at the end of the economic spectrum, always seem to skipp work as a remedy against any precieved injustice?

We need to take our kids to school and to hospitals. And the American taxpayer must pay your tuition and medical bills. Take your kids to school and hospitals in your own country and quit expecting a free ride.

I wonder how many really boycotted free American hospitals or boycotted food stamps and WIC coupons? Did any move out of their government provided housing in protest? Boycotting free American schools isn't going to make enough of a dent on the economy.

"We need to take our kids to school and to hospitals. I don't know why (the governor) cannot see this,'' Urzua said. She said she drives sometimes -- without a license -- but would prefer to have one. "I want to be responsible," she said.So it's not enough that we pay for their children's education and let them use the emergency rooms for free, while American citizens must pay. On top of that, we have to give them driver's licenses, too. Why can't she take the bus? I did for years. Many citizens and legal immigrants do. But she's too good to take the bus? Why don't we just send a limo to your house, lady, and escort you to school and to the hospital? Would that be good enough? Surely not.
And she claims she wants to be responsible. That is rich. Responsibility includes obeying the laws.
Boot these arrogant leeches out. They contribute nothing except taking jobs from Americans, bringing wages down, bringing in crime and blight and ruined neighborhoods, and costing the American taxpayers. OUT with them!

The thing that bothers me most about this? The blatant arrogance of these CRIMINAL ALIENS.
There was a day not so long ago that CRIMINAL ALIENS tried to stay hidden lest they by found and summarily tossed out of the country.
But then we had to become Politically Correct.
And now they throw their CRIMINAL behavior in our faces. This MUST be stopped.
President Bush has neutered the INS. WHY????

I would change the title: instead of "modest" I would say "insignificant."
As for Bush, he is not stupid enough to believe he will get their votes. Something else is involved.
In any case, its roundup time. They are breaking our laws and should be deported. Why pander to them? Too many are acting as if they are God's gift for our survival. We not only do not need them, they pose a threat to us.
