You could tell that the people in the courtroom would rather have been somewhere else -- anywhere else.

The topic of the hour was children; yet there were practically none around to hear discussions that would greatly affect their lives.

Therefore, he surmised, the Lord doesn't want him to work outside the home.

Interesting variation of the old "The Devil made me do it" excuse.

I guess in that regard I've been lucky. My ex has kept up, except for once when he left the country without my knowledge and didn't pay for a few months. He did later make it up, but the sudden loss made me make some cuts that I didn't want to make. On the other hand, he has completely neglected the kids. He hasn't seen them in 10 years and never even so much as sends a birthday card.

Never lie to a judge.

Thank you. Good night.

"I'm not seeing any effort by Mr. Weaver," said Deputy Prosecutor Cathy Finders-Shaver. "The last time this case was in court, all Mrs. Weaver asked him to do was at least give them some food, but he wouldn't even do that."

Damn.

If the federal government wants to treat people's children as state property and mandate how they're to be schooled and raised, let them pay for it.

If the constitutional protections the protect citizens from government no longer apply, then neither do the ones authorizing governmental powers, positions and authority. The courts are just another criminal street gang.

My ex and I divorced when my youngest child was 2 years old. He gave me one child support check for $29 which bounced.

He has never paid child support and both my children are now in their 30s.

No matter how hard you try not to let the children be involved, this issue is a desertion issue for the children and affects them emotionally.

Thankfully, their stepfather had no resentment and loved them as his own.

Sounds like a real jacksass. Of course, you are the one who decided to marry and have children with him. Unfortunately, the kids suffer, not their jackass parents.

This guy better check his bible...

I Timothy 5:8...

"But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel."

Support your family Mister.

I can't help but believe that if BOTH parents put their children's welfare ahead of their own, they would treat each other better, and perhaps save their marriage, as well as not produce turmoil in their children's lives.

If they did that, then tens of thousands of people in the government divorce industry would be out of jobs, and we can't have that.

Nothing of the sort.
We did not have a support hearing, the two of us had a discussion and agreed upon an amount that seemed fair and manageable. He has always sent the checks directly to me. I didn't want to deal with the courts involvement any more than he did. I also would never have called the law on him for non-support unless I knew he was rich or something and was just being an a-hole.
When we still lived in the same town the kids would go spend the weekend at his apartment every other week. After he moved out of state, he would make promises of Christmas presents, or visits, but he never kept any of them and eventually even stopped calling.

I thank the good Lord every night for my ex-husband, my two children's father. Our kids are now 21 and 24, and not only has he taken an active part in their lives since our divorce, he has helped support them monetarily as well.
