The simple truth is that almost 45% of emissions that contribute to the formation of ground-level ozone come from local vegetation in the form of evergreen plants, especially the conifers and the creosotes.
Even in areas listed as non-compliant, except for heavily populated areas, the number of over-limit days amount to less than 3% of the total fully-compliant days and these few are caused by temperature inversions where the air is trapped at the surface and the strong sunlight cranks out ozone all day.
Weather conditions conducive to the formation of inversions are readily predictable and should be the only cause of restriction on outdoor activities that add to the hydrocarbon load.
However, regional planning has become a cause rather than a tool and causes are the grist for the crusader's mills.

Ashes may be disposed of in a garden or dumped on the lawn as fertilizer. You mean returning the nutrients to the soil from which they came in a sustainable way? Nah, these guys wouldn't want that.

'And starve. . . .With the taxes in this state, the people buy steak with their stamps while we eat hot dogs."
Well, it sounds like they will not be cooking their 'steaks on the grill' in any event (though, there is always the option of cooking with gas. . .till they find a reason to ban that of course. Think they will only stop when we have wind-up battery operated grills.)
Anyway, hope Michigan wakes up to the 'new' realities of what is means to vote 'Democrat'.
Not what it used to be.

OK, you just got me started on another topic.
My company "sponsors" a poor family each year around Christmas. I refuse to participate as the list of wants from these family's is always a greed list.
Last year, the kids wanted game boy and X-box game cards. The 12 year old wanted a sweatshirt too. Size XXL. (Sonds like a treadmill would be in order rather than a video game. So, this poor family has an X-Box and Game boy.
This year, this same family is being profiled on TV as they were given mortgage payments for a year or something.
It makes me sad that some family on the dole will get a better Christmas than my family because I have to earn my own money and pay for taxes, my own mortgage, my own food, gas, power, braces, car payment, insurance and maybe a gift or two for the kids.
Don't get me wrong, I make a decent income and my kids aren't lacking, but sometimes the word "No" just needs to be used by some people.

Ya KNOW!
There is no XBox coming to our house this year. My three year old is in a 4th generation coat. My coat is wearing at the sleeves. There is only my hubby who is not wearing hand me downs or Salvation Army buys. I shop at Walmart (and cringe when FReepers condemn me for it) because I refuse to buy used shoes. The girls got more knock offs from Santa than Barbies. We are happy and healthy and STILL took tags off the giving tree at church to help those who are poorer than us.
But I will tell you, when I see some single mom with 7 kids get the goodies from TV channels and it is better than my Christmas, I want to whip a cup of coffee at the screen. Ooooo, why can't my kids have that Leap Pad they want!!!
I say, Thank You, Oh Lord for what we have. Then turn off the tv.

mandatory auto emissions testing that would cost about $100 a year Looks like Jenny's bringing it back in stealth mode.

What the EPA will do is put a tax on charcoal to make it cost $500.00 a bag.

We need to hit this hard. We need to get the state and federal representatives on the record before the next election.

"I'm sorry, sir, but as yew kin see here, your child committed the felony of 'charcoalizing' when she accidentally burned her marshmallow stick. My tests show that there are more than 30 grams of charcoal present on the evidence that we seized pursuant to the court-ordered search."

I think my rep and senator's offices are tired from hearing from me lately...:)

Looks like Jenny's bringing it back in stealth mode. Don't blame me, I voted for what's-his-name. ;-)

Seriously, though - you should put some thought into becoming more of a political activist type. **grin**

Level Lansing and let the swamps reclaim it. All those legislators gone who spewed noxious gases should meet the EPA goals.
Fire 99% of the fascist bureaucrats. Writing infuriating regulations gets steam rising from citizens' heads.
Jack up Ann Arbor and slide it into Lake Michigan. All those spotted owl fart-sniffing eco-fascists at the university certainly contribute to foul polluting gases.

Let's plan a Michigan Freeper BBQ for late July. That is about the time of the year with the most ozone action days!

I recently got a letter back from my senator (Garcia) on this. I think even he was suprised at this.
He calls it "unbelievable" and said "I wonder what they will think of next".

The Canadian Trash is going after anyone and everyone who *might* contaminate ground water, so its conceivable for her to have her eye on that mote of barbeque smoke.
