Sierra Vista, AZ Deanie-Weenie After Freep Report
Myself | 12/16/03 | AZHSer

Posted on 12/16/2003 7:47:20 PM PST by AZHSer

First of all, let me state that this was not really a Dean rally, it was more like a Hate Bush rally. My husband and I arrived at the Sierra Vista Airport at around 2:10p.m. Dean was due to be there by 3. There was already a gentleman there carrying a sign that said Draft Dodger on one side and Coward Dean on the other. He was also passing out leaflets containing information concerning Dean's little skiing trip he took after getting a medical deferment. Another couple, both Republican Precinct Committeemen, and the leader of the Cochise County Young Repulicans were there. Nine in all.

Our original objective was to assist For Our Grandchildren in passing thier literature concerning Social Security reform. For more information about this organization, please visit http://www.forourchildren.org. The pictures from this event and others they have attended will be posted there. Three of them drove down from Tucson with signs and pamplets. Thanks Guys! In addition to thier signs, my husband and I carried copies of Just Another Lurker's I Want You Help Stop Terrorism and Oppression - Vote Republican graphic.

In order to fill the hanger they bused in 2 busloads of people. They also bused in the 8th grade classes from Huachuca City (Middle?) School.

Before Dean arrived, the guy with the Draft Dodger sign went into the hangar. He was cussed at, kicked, poked, shoved, ect. The S.V. Police Department had to surround him to pull him out to keep him from getting hurt. He was able to keep his good humor though. Several people came outside and apologised to him saying that he had as much right to be there as anyone else. Some of these folks left.

When Dean arrived we lined up to show him our signs. One old guy tried to get the Deanie-weenies to use thier signs to cover ours. He could not get anyone to do this. As a result Dean got an eyeful of our signs. It was fairly quiet while he was inside except for this dirty hippie type guy quoting made derogetory poetry about President Bush. There was also an eighth grader that had passed out in the hangar. His teacher and a friend carried him out. Aside from calling 911, nobody helped them. The kid had to lie down on the cold pavement until the paramedics got there. I allowed the teacher to use my cell to call the school and make arrangements. Hope he is okay. During the whole thing there were a lot of folks leaving or just milling around outside of the hangar.

Things heated up after Dean left. People leaving were generally nice unil they saw hubby and my signs. At one point I was surrounded by a group of people, led by the hippie poet who were making some very ugly comments. After they left, this hippie skank got right in my face screaming about the environment and how the luekimia cluster we are experiencing down here is Bush's and Ft.Huachuca's fault. They have aready proven it's caused by naturally occurring tungsten in the soil and when I started to refute her she pointed her finger in in my face, screamed that a vote for Bush was a vote for killing her child and then poked me on the chin as hard as she could. I told her she needed to leave or I would get the police and my hubby came over to make sure I was okay. Her husband (the hippie poet) came and got her and led her away.

An old guy screaming at the Draft Dodger guy attracted the attention of Wall Street Journal reporter Jackie Calmes. She was very biased. She wanted to know what the difference was between Dean's dodging and the year Bush took off from the reserves to campaign for his Dad. My husband stepped in and gave her information regarding the difference in active duty and reserve units. She kept insisting that Bush was AWOL at that time and that we were being inconsistant to point out Dean's dodging. She did take notes on what my hubby told her so maybe she will check it out.

All in all, it was a good FReep. We handed out almost all of the info from For Our Grandchildren and made some new friends. Hopefully, next time there will be more of us.

No we didn't. She didn't hurt me. Well maybe my pride a little, LOL. Next time we will bring a camera to record any nonsense so it won't be a we said they said type thing. At one point hubby thought he saw her coming back and started for the police but it wasn't her so he stopped.

You bringing up the Fort made me think about the fact that there were absolutely no military there that I could tell. The closest thing we saw were two little Civil Air Patrol punks.

One day she will poke the wrong person and spend some time in tent city...

Ooooo! A potential check-in for the Maricopa County Canvas Motel!

I like the way you think!

Think back to those you did see especially the males now get a real good picture of them in your mind concentrate on the hair cuts, ... you may have seen military there and didn't even know it, they were in civvies but on civilian turf so the needed to be that way but the hair cut will always point them out. That and their ramrod posture.

Your After-Action Report was an exciting read. From the child fainting to the poke on the chin, that was quite a FReep.

Congratulations on keeping your cool and being such a fine representative of American Patriots. It must have been difficult to be surrounded by all that left wing hate. Thanks to all of you for being out there on the front lines.

Been a military wife for over 10 years and I am pretty good at picking them out. Lots of older folks and kids but not many in between. There might have been a few but I didn't see them. One person I recognized right away was the pastor from St. Paul's Missionary Baptist. I didn't even have to see him, just heard him. He was doing part of the introductions before Dean arrived.

Baptist pastor supporting Dean? That's surprising.

Could be. Hubby thinks not too many would have been interested in Dean anyway.

Think what they'd possibly be interested in doing is probably not considered gentlemanly conduct.

Wouldn't think so with Fort Huachuca in the vicinity. Those G.I.s are cream of the crop.

Thank you for the report!!

I heard on KFYI that Deenie paid a visit to the seniors in Sun City ... he was 20 minutes late and only spent a short time with them. He was then "whisked away" to do Yuma.

He harped on Soc. Security while he was doing the seniors. Too bad that many of these are FDR types.
